allow merging of "?" with anyone without it being identified as inconsistent in name
There are a ton of records where the second parent for a child is identified as "?". I often have to attach up to a dozen of these (one for each child) with the named parent. In many cases, I know the name of the missing parent due to a marriage or census record.
Please allow these "?" records to be merged with a named individual (or another "?") without having to justify an inconsistency.

But it is inconsistent. Just view it as a reminder to make sure you have real evidence that that second parent is from the same couple relationship as the other ones. It's actually good practice to always put in a justification rather than just having the default "FamilySearch shows no inconsistencies" (or whatever the exact wording is.)

Would it help if reason statements were easier, like when we had the canned reason statements on the old merge?
