Lance, it is excellent that you are aware of and want to correct inaccurate information. I have no experience with making corrections on multliple websites, but I know all your efforts will be helpful for future researchers.
FamilySeach.org encourages and invites these corrections. It is especially designed for just this purpose, making tree tree (for all) a growing, accurate, well sourced record. I suggest you start there and add all the sources you can to your family. Put a "watch" (see star) on your GGfather's record and others so you are notified when changes good or inaccurate occur. If you wish, add new, corrected trees (with sources) in other websites so others can find your information.
Good luck in all your efforts.

Shari's answer is beautiful, but I would add one other step.
I would make an effort to contact people who have posted the mistaken information on other websites.
Approaching them in a way that suggests you are open to hearing their reasoning is most helpful. Be willing to share your research or point to family search if that is where your research is available. A give and take will help sort things out.
Often they just found and copied their information. and don't know where it came from anymore So you have an opportunity to clarify the process and to kindly help them to become more careful. Sometimes they will have found something you didn't know.
Good Luck,
Sue
