Transcription question and tips
Hi,
I am learning how to read this handwriting. I'm wondering what the highlighted word is. This is a death record.
Also, any tips or tricks to read this handwriting? I've been tasked to make an attempt on several documents like this one.

This is in Latin.
For starters I recommend you keep this page handy: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Latin_Genealogical_Word_List
It doesn't always help because some of the abbreviations can drive you crazy.
Also, when asking for help, whenever possible, please post a link directly to the image - it helps tremendously with context and source.
The highlighted word appears to be an abbreviation.

I don't have a link. It is sent to me as a google drive doc. I did look through the genealogical word list prior to asking. I am not finding the handwriting alphabet sheet they usually do.

Hi - no, that link wouldn't work.
I understand that the image was shared with you. What I menat about sharing the link to the document was based on being able to see the document from within its source. That enables us to see the collection, other documents around it, etc… That sort of context helps.
Perhaps @Cousin Vinny can shed further light on that abbreviation you've highlighted.

Context helps. Which town is this death record from? I see the same word in several different places in the record. My hunch is that it's the name of a place and this is the locative form of the name (meaning "from place name"). The ending of the word appears to be the -ae ligature, suggesting the nominative form of the place name is a first declension noun ending in -a.
