I am trying to determine what the marks next to the names of the children on lines 4-9 signify.
Also, is there a significance to the names being crossed out?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I also have this second image, which may shed some light on the issue.
What I think has happened is August Johansson was married twice, first to Helena A. Johansdotter, and then to Johanna S. Borgesdotter.

Crossed out means either:
1) Moved away
2) Died
3) copied to the next book in the series, will usually be to the same location
Looking at the very last two columns, there is a death date of 8 July -99 for the last child,
The rest of the family moved to Lerum (I'm pretty sure), most of them on 2 Nov -00, The oldest child moved there 1 Dec -99
Those marks do have a word followed by 1st for the first two children then a word followed by 2nd for the rest. Looking at their birth dates and the recorded marriage date for the father, it does fit that the first two are from his first marriage and the other five are from his second.
