How to search in Podkarpackie?
I had the approximate birth date for my Great Great grandmother Agnes Falandys. Her immigration paperwork listed town of birth as Trzebos, Poland. I ordered her baptismal record and received this. It says Agnieszka Falandys, born 16, Sept. 1870, baptized 17 Sept. 1870. Daughter of Jan Falandys(farmer) and Maria daughter of Andrzej Wos and Zofia born Piersiak. My question is what collections would I look under for that time period? It's part of modern day Podkarpackie, but family search says in 1967 it was under Rzeszow voivodeship. But it doesn't say about 1800's research, which is when I'd be looking.

- There are few options for your research. You may check as you enter Polish Community Research, clicking on Polish Resource Link. The first item there is Szukajwarchiwach (it means search the state archives in Poland). It is an instruction in English on how to research Polish State Archves. You will access them by typing: szukajwarchiwach Please follow the instructions, if you find them challenging, check with us again. They mostly have some records from Trzebos but starting in year 1880, including information on deporting the population from podkarpackie region to German region after the 2nd World War, when Russia took over Ukrainian lands and forced the population to move to western areas which used to be Polish, and then became German. But those records are limited, some of them may be in Rzeszow Archiwum Panstwowe, and you may ask them to search for your family and pay for the scans. It is possible that many Trzebos Parish records were destroyed by Austrian, German, Russian and Ukrainian armies and this is the reason that they are limited.
- You may search in geneszukacz.genealodzy.pl which are indexed records of Geneteka for entire Poland, with some records from Lithuania, Ukraine, and Bielarus. It will give an idea if there were Falandys people migrating from or to other areas. Some of them are for Trzebos, but very limited, still you may find there some of your relatives. They include for Trzebos: Births 1880-1891, Marriages 1889-1941, and Deaths 1875-1875. Unfortunately, I was not able to find any records for Trzebos in Familysearch Catalog.
- There may be duplicate Trzebos Parish records in Przemysl Archdiocese Archives, but they are restricted for access to only two genealogists, Lucjan Cichocki, and Maciej Orzechowski. No private access to those records has been permitted. Those two genealogists are trusted by them and they pay donation for each hour they spend there researching. You may search for them on Internet, and the first one may be a speaker at RootTech in February, as he did it before. The Diocese Archives have the most complete collections of duplicate Parish records from that area.
- You may try to contact Trzebos Parish by email, but most priests in that area are too busy to check records in Latin, language young priest are usually not familiar with, and they are involved taking care of marriage ceremonies, baptisms, and funerals. But they may be able to read or use GoogleTranslate when you write to them in English. You may try writing to them. You will find Trzebos email address on Internet. Their Parish records collection might be limited due to destruction during the wars.
- I did not find your ancestors in MyHeritage, which is a subscription site favored by many Polish people.
- I would recommend that you find what you can on your own and then request search from other sources.
