Swedish Translation of Christening record in Villie Parish for Swan Jeppesson
I found the christening record of Swan Jeppesson KVLT-MXF in 1752 in Villie Parish. His father is Jeppa Svensson and his mother is Martha or Mareda Larsdotter. He was christened 18 July 1752. Some of the sibling christening records show the mother as Martha Larsdotter and some of them show the mother as Mareda Larsdotter.
I need a full translation because it looks like there is important information before the witnesses are listed. I need to know if the first name is Swen or Swan and the spelling of the mother's first name. I also need the name of the farm.
Thank you so much for your help. Sharon

I think I can answer your questions, but first, I need to explain that there are no correct nor incorrect ways to spell names in Sweden. The name Svänsson, Svensson, Swansson and Swänsson are all the same name. The father (Jeppe Svensson) is spelled Swänsson in the birth records you are looking at, but there is another set of birth records for Villie (Willie) that appear to be an abridgement of the birth records you are referring to. In this book, the father is always Jeppe Svensson. I can give you a link to the record here, but you need a subscription to Arkivdigital to view it. It covers the years 1740 to 1838. You can also go to a FamilySearch Center near your home to view it for free there. The link is here: https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v113051?image=9 . I will also attach a screenshot of the record for Sven/Swän born in 1752.
I looked at all of the children's birth records from 1745 to 1763 that are in FamilySearch Tree. The family moves from Norra Willie to Södra Willie (abt. 1755) and then to Ekarp (abt 1760). In all the birth records from 1745 till 1752 the mother's name is written as Martha, Märtha or Märta. Like the name Sven (Swän etc.) there is no real difference-they are the same name.
Beginning in 1754, the mother's name is written as Mereda or Meretha. I cannot be 100% certain that this is the same mother. I think she probably is because there is no record for the death of of Martha Larsdotter in about 1752-1753.
I have to leave now, but I will attach the record now and get back to you on an exact translation of your birth record.
