Looking for information about my great-aunt
Hi! I had a great aunt who emigrated to the USA in 1922. She married in 1929 and it seems settled in Brooklyn, NY. I don't know if she actually became an American citizen and if her husband did. He also emigrated to the US (from Denmark) I have seen info on both the 1940 and 1950 US Census and can see where my great aunt lived. I can't find out when she died/where she is buried etc or if her and her husband adopted the little girl mentioned on the 1950 Census. Hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance.

I don't think there would be any online death records for Brooklyn after 1950. You might try this index of resources for New York state records: New York Death Indexes
You might have better luck with newspapers/obituaries for Brooklyn. Try this source: Brooklyn Daily Eagle
Adoption records in New York are sealed, but again newspapers might help. For example, a wedding announcement for the little girl would list parents.
If you have further questions, don't hesitate to post again!

@Rachel84389 Also, I assume you have already checked the Social Security Death Index .

For New York (city and state) the first place I'd go other than here at Family Search or the other massive providers is the webpage for "Reclaim the Records" - the people who sue government entities for access to indexes (if full documents are refused) so they can be made freely available.
They have a particular focus on New York city and state because that's where they started.
To see what they're currently working (not successful yet, but known to exist) scroll down their home page to "Recent Records Requests" which has a menu running across it. Note that they list New York City and New York State separately; for a borough like Brooklyn, check both places.
