I just found my grandmother's baptism record through films available here through Family Search! I
Would someone please translate this baptism record for me? She is my grandmother, Maria Cresci. I have her name and her parents names, but I would like to know what are the relationships of the people listed? Also, if there is anything out of the ordinary in the record, can you explain Please? Is that a name in front of her father's name (I have always known Francesco Cresci).
Also, Is a Baptism record proof of Italian birth? Would there be a birth certificate anywhere?
Again, thank you! Donna

anno 1888 31 luglio
Cresci Maria nata ieri alle ore vespertine dai legittimi coniugi di questa parrocchia Francesco e Della Fiore Antonia. Fu battezzata da me infrascritto.

So here is the English translation:
Year 1888 31st of July
Cresci Maria born yesterday evening to Francesco and Antonia Della Fiore, a married couple, members of this parish.
She was christened by me.
Pietro Maschini, son of Andrea, member of this parish, and Maria della Fiore, wife of Giuseppe Toscani, were godparents.
Where was she from? I’m not sure if this would count for Italian citizenship, you may need an actual birth certificate.
It’s probably a good idea to contact your local Italian consulate and ask them.
Good luck!

No problem, if you need anything else translated I’m happy to help!
can I ask how you found the record? Was it here on Family Search?
I’ve been looking for information on my family but it’s hard to find records from Sardegna.

Yes, I found it through Family Search. From home page go to Search, Then select catalog. Then enter location. I tried first entering Province (Parma)...then working my way down to the Comune (Borgo Val di Taro) then the hamlet where my records show her birth location where the church is (Porcigatone). I was amazed it was there, not only that; but the church records had been posted on line (not all are, some of them you have to go to a LDS local library to look at). Family Search has not done all of Italy...so you may not find your town.
Now that I have all of this to look through, I am finding I cannot discern which names in the records are the birth parents! So I am looking through frustrated. I hate to ask someone to help with all; I don't want to be a pest here.

Thank you for the info, unfortunately I've had no luck finding church records for Sardinia.
However I'm happy to help with translation, what do you need exactly?

Stefania, Hello again! Thank you.
Can you tell me with the acronym RSRE means in a Latin Baptismal Record? I am trying to translate the newly attached record above and for now, I have tried to do myself but don't have it all. Would you look at the Baptism record of Antonia Maria Dominica Dellafiora 30 august 1855 and compare to what I think it says?
Here is mine: Born yesterday afternoon after a quarter of an hour of the married Lorenzo, son of living Joseph Dellafiora - (so the grandfather?_ and Dominica Marchini (grandmother?) and from Angela Fenaroli (mother?) of Joseph(maternal grandfather?) and living with/beside Maria Feci (maternal grandmother?) RSRE (?) then says something about the priest Domino Josepho Calestina Cuvato of the place? Then lists Godfather Joannes Dellafiora, ( How does Joannes translate to English?) then I get lost with the translation for who I think is Godmother,...Is Josephi a Surname? then does it say that they are parishoners of St. Peter Apostles in Porcigatone
Thank you in advance very much! This would be very helpful. Donna

I'm not sure what RSRE means, sorry.
the birth record says:
"The year of the lord 1855, on the 30th day of August
Dellafiora Antonia Maria Domenica, born yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock, the legitimate daughter of Lorenzo, son of Giuseppe and Marchini Domenica, both living, and of Fenaroli Angela, daughter of Giuseppe and of Feci Maria, still alive. I, the reverend Domenico Giuseppe Calestina, the curate of (I can't decipher the name of the place, sorry) christened her, the godfather was Dellafiora Giovanni and the godmother (I can't read her surname but I believe it may start with S) Maria, daughter of Giuseppe.
Then it lists the name of the church they belong to. "
To recap, Antonia Maria Domenica Dellafiora was born at 4 pm on August 29th 1855. Her father was Lorenzo Dellafiora and her mother was Angela Fenaroli and they were married. her paternal grandparents were Giuseppe Dellafiora and Domenica Marchini who were both alive at the time of her birth. Her maternal grandparents were Giuseppe Fenaroli and Maria Feci, from the conjugation of the verb vivo I suspect that her maternal grandfather had already passed away. Her godparents were Giovanni Dellafiora and Maria whose surname I can't decipher but she was the daughter of yet another Giuseppe.
I did my best, sorry my latin is a little rusty and this isn't classical latin that is usually studied in school, so it's harder to translate.
