I don't understand. Editing to hide information on living individuals causes children from two different families to be clumped by the connecting lines as if they are siblings. With the children of the left side parents on the right side and the children of the right side parents on the left ?
I have seen this exact problem in my Shared Family Tree.

I should add though that in my attempt to get a screen shot, I have not be able to reproduce this again.

Sorry not to be clear... I assumed this was a known issue. I didn't mean to say that it is related to Family Groups, it has been a problem on legacy pages as well.

It has to do with the Sibling Tree. The goal is to keep families on the same side of the tree as the main person's relatives on the tree. So as you open up different branches it moves the various branches around in sometimes surprising ways. Keep in mind who is the main person on the tree and then watch how the different branches of the tree open up in relation to the main person on the tree. Remember that this tree is not static. All the other trees (Fan, Portrait, Landscape...) open a specific amount of generations and have specific spacing between profiles. The Sibling tree works off a set of rules and then calculates how the branch you just opened will appear, by following those rules. See how it changes when you open the same branches, but with a different person as the main person in the tree. This Sibling tree is still being built and the product team is open to hearing how you would like it to behave. Post here if you have suggestions.

Thanks Anne.
OK, interesting that it is fluid. Maybe it would help if it made clear who "the main person on the tree" is, as you call them.
For the example below, I don't recall who the main person on the tree is. (Also, in order to switch spouse and get to the folks that I want, I am forced to go to the other spouse then click TREE, in order to display the people that I want to see -- but given that, I thus am not able to select "the main person in the tree" ...but that is a different topic.)
For the example below, I don't recall who the main person on the tree is - and looking at it I don't notice size/ color/ shading or any tag, on any one person, unless I am missing something??
But I would think that the yellow group/(with gray scratch out) would all appear together, as they are one family. Rather than being intersected by the purple people who have inserted themselves between the yellow siblings. (I do notice that other cousins, as they are expanded, insert themselves in between the siblings the same way - and I assume that I and my wife (in yellow on the right) are the "main person(s)" as we are bigger than others in this generation, although the parents above are the biggest in their generation - so are they "the main person" instead?? I suppose adding background colors to the boxes could help clarify one branch from another; as might using extra thick line or red shading or similar for "the main person". As is, to be frank, I'm not seeing what is being clarified -- and think that siblings grouped together would be clearer - though still grouping using sibling shading would help, especially if using the-crazy-crossed-lines-that-cannot-be-followed-clearly. I hope this is helpful! Thanks!!

Thank you @Bill Kaczmarek you have a couple of good points here about being able to tell who is the main person in the tree and that it splits up groups of kids. Thanks for your input.

Note that one of the recent changes has been to put a small colored outline around the main person in the tree. The branches that you open still pop up in surprising ways, but should have been fixed to not allow new branches to split up a single family of children. Investigate these changes and if you still have issues with how it displays, please start a new post in this group.
