Johannes Hibernicus Pringel, my oldest ancestor who arrived in Belgium around 1690
Dear Sir or Madam,
Following genealogical research previously carried out by my great uncle Pierre Pringle (done in 1980-1990), we know precisely our ancestors until +- 1700 with the arrival of Johannes Hibernicus Pringel (+-1670-1732, married in 1695) in Belgium, but before that we don't have any information mainly because the archives were destroyed in 1922 due to a fire in Dublin.
Here is the link to the Johannes Hibernicus Pringel profile on your site: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/G7GF-X3Y
Still according to my great uncle's research, we would have 5 possible genealogical branches in Ireland.
Thorough genealogical research made in Ireland led to Pringle families coming from Scotland, settled in Ireland during or after the colonisation organised by King James I of England after 1608.
One of the ancestors of Johannes Pringel Hibernicus could thus be one of the following:
- William Pringle, descendant of the Pringle of Torwoodlee (Scotland), was naturalized Irish on 1617
- Thomas Pringle living in the Armagh county in Ulster in 1622
- Henry Pringle living in the Down county and wrote his last will in 1677
- Robert Pringle of Tandragee (1632)
- James Pringle, tenant of Lord Grandison's domain in 1630 (Ballymore, County Armagh)
The genealogical research performed to date does not allow to know from which of the above branches of the Pringle family do the Pringels of Belgium come.
Maybe Johannes' grandfather is one of the 5 people mentioned above?
Could I ask you if you would be able to find some information for the period between 1600 and 1700 that could help my family to know who Johannes Pringel's father and grandfather was ? Considering that Johannes was born around 1670 in Ireland (we do not know the place or date of his birth).
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Jean-Jacques Pringels

Good morning, First of all, I wrote and asked for help via a contact email address on your site. Here is the answer I then got. Very effective and very friendly response, I would like to say it and thank its authors. I then followed to the letter what was said in this message and I invite you to read it and perhaps discuss it between you and the site managers: "Dear Jean-Jacques, Thank you for contacting FamilySearch about finding information about your family between 1600 & 1700AD. We feel that the best place for you to find the help that you need is the Ireland Research Group in the Community. To find this group we suggest that you follow these steps: Sign into your FamilySearch account Click on the Help Icon (small circle with a ? inside) Click on Community (at the bottom of the screen) Click Groups Scroll down until you see Ireland Click on Page Click Join Ask any questions or for any help you need. Wait for answers. We hope that this information is of use to you in solving your problem. You can also find answers to your questions by using our Help feature at the top of any FamilySearch screen by clicking the Help icon (the small circle with the question mark), then Help Centre. Enter a few key search terms to find and select knowledge articles appropriate to your question. If you need further help on this matter, please reply directly to this email using your email reply function instead of creating a new email to ensure your email comes directly back to us. We hope that you find joy as you continue your family history research. Kind Regards FamilySearch Support, UK/IR" On the other hand, it is not possible to modify our messages and even less to delete them if they were no longer necessary. It's too bad. I also invite you to discuss it with the managers of this site since these are necessary functions. I also discovered at least one bug in the encoding of my message. If a web link contains the '-' character, the link is then cut and this makes the link truncated even though the '-' character is used relatively often in Internet links. My remarks are therefore to be used in order to make your services even better than they already are and here too I congratulate you on your approach. I can even tell you that your site is really well done and extremely well thought out. Best regards
