Lincolnshire Chronicle and England prisons
I can't remember where I saw this post but I am wondering if there is more to this article if I can see the original excerpt from the Lincolnshire Chronicle. Would it be through a subscription? I am wondering if this William Shaw is my 3rd great grandfather. I know that mine was a Sawyer. How would I find more about his article or more about the Kirkdalegaol prison? Did they do census records for those in prisons or jails in 1841 and 1851?

Sorry, I skipped this post after responding to your other one regarding William Shaw. You can possibly open up the articles while at a FHC - I know I could do this (without the need for a BNA subscription) on my visits to the Society of Genealogists' Library, here in London.
In some cases, there was little more of use to be read, but occasionally a fairly lengthy article, providing a comprehensive answer to the matter for which I was seeking an explanation.

Thanks for your help and advice. I paid for a while for a subscription to British newspapers. I will do some more research to see if i can see the Lincolnshire Chronicle at a FSC.
