Two baptisms? Elżbieta Rospędzka
Hello,
I’ve found baptism records for Elżbieta Rospędzka.
These have me a bit confused – it seems as though the ceremony was performed twice? Or perhaps in two steps separated by almost a year?
Any insight into this and/or translations of the records would be wonderful.

these indeed look like a two different baptisms of the same child born on 8th of July 1916. They have exact same information including the witness names, but I don't suppose anyone even in troublesome times like 1917 would baptize a child twice forgetting they've already done this 4 months ago or repeating the process for any other reason.
What may have happened is a scribe making a copy of a draft record and looking elsewhere making a mistake in the date. I'm not sure about Catholic church and whether this applies, but in Orthodox Russian church around the same time and for many years before the process often was
- create a draft of record when an event took place
- in the end of the year make a proper metric book with all the records
- make a "consistory" copy to submit to consistory
Sometimes both copies would remain available, I've even seen a few drafts. When looking at them people often find discrepancies, spelling errors, name or date differences etc. Maybe this is one of those.

I have a few Polish records for which I’ve also found abbreviated duplicates. In these cases, the abbreviated form is typically in Latin, and presumably was written for dioceses archives, whereas the Polish language long-form version was held at the Parish.
Indeed, one of these baptism records is most likely duplicate with a typo.
By chance does the record specify the occupation of the child’s father, Jan? He had been living in Tbilisi since at least 1901. At that point he was 28 years old and serving as a reserve non-commissioned officer of the peasants in the Imperial Russian army. I am trying to determine whether or not he served during WWI. Around 1918, he returned home to the Piotrków Trybunalski region of Poland with his wife and four children.

Both records refer to both parents as "Крестьян .. Домброво-Видавской гмины" (peasants of .. Dombrowo-Widawski gmina) without individually specifying their profession in Tiflis.
WWI records would usually be here:
there is a similar last name Rospendovski, one even from Petrakosvskaya gubernia, Pekari village, if this is in or near the gmina where Jan is from, they may be relatives. This one if Peter, son of Anton(ius) https://gwar.mil.ru/heroes/chelovek_plen30488563/ and is listed as POW
There is also a national library search in Georgia that looks through some local newspapers but I'm not seeing any results for your last name

apparently google itself does a much better job at search the library site above and gives the following newspaper https://dspace.nplg.gov.ge/bitstream/1234/32855/1/Kavkaz_1907_N252.pdf
but the mention of Jan there is only in a notice from Tiflis railway authority that a residence permit in his name was stolen along other people's documents from the office in 1907
