Images that need to be indexed and our stake would love to be able to do this. Is there a way or possibility of how this could be done. Our stake includes, Wayne, Johnston, Nash, Wilson, Halifax counties. Please advise or make a suggestion of how this may be possible. Thank you so much for all your help. Judy Cogdell

There is a help article in the Help Center: Can I do my own indexing of a microfilm and add or donate to FamilySearch?
"Personal indexing projects are not allowed nor do we take donations from such projects. Doing so would risk violating FamilySearch's contracts with the record custodians."
I'll add that FamilySearch adds indexing projects for newly acquired images just as quickly as they get permission from the record custodian and get the images broken up into batches and labeled for indexing. Hard to wait sometimes, but our patience is eventually rewarded.

Thanks @N Tychonievich . The contract violation issue is not one that is often thought about, nor even understood by many people, nor is copyright considered all too often. We may "want" something, but somebody else may have a legitimate claim to it, and it's not automatically ours to "take" simply because we want it (images, on line especially).
With that said, I have a related question: Who can a library or historical society, for example, contact to have a collection added to the list of projects for which the Church will send out a digitizing crew and then turn that into an indexing project? I introduced our local library system to FamilySearch and guided them through the process of becoming a Family Search Affiliate Library, and one of the things that particularly "sold" the concept was the short video about FamilySearch that features Curt Witcher (Allen County Public Library). But I don't know who to refer them (or others) to in order to get some of their collections vetted as possible indexing projects. The idea of getting local people involved in doing local indexing projects could be a great way of generating more interest in family history in communities. It obviously sealed the deal for Curt Witcher and the Allen County Public Library to become a FamilySearch Affiliate Library, with their big project!

Thank all of you so much for your help and input into my question. Things I had not thought about, copyright and ownership of who the records belong to and other items to consider. I really appreciate all your help and will do our best to be patient until the time comes when we can do these records.

@Chris Schmink Organizations can request that FamilySearch digitize records. They, of course, need to have the right to give that permission. If the record holder will contact support, we can put them in touch with the correct person. Click Help in the upper right of FamilySearch.org and then click Contact Us. They'll find email, live chat, and phone options. Be aware that the request must come from the archivist/owner of the records.
