Danish translation help, please!
I need help translating the very last line of this marriage record. I am looking for information such as: Was there a previous marriage for the husband? Was the bride a widow from a previous marriage? What does it say about “dader” in the boxes after? I would love as much information as I can possibly get so I can solve this wonderful mystery. The groom, Christian Lorentz Rasmussen is a widower.
The word before Christiane Carolina Schow's name is "Ifrue". The word "frue" means "mrs., wife, lady, not a peasant women". In this case, it could not mean "mrs., wife" because that would indicate that Christian is marrying someone who is already a wife. So it means "lady, not a peasant woman". I don't really understand if there is some additional meaning to "Ifrue". I suspect it is a sign of respect. The word ocurres on many other marriage records in this parish during this time period. The Danish National Archives has re-photographed these records in color! They are really nice. The other other word you are asking about is "fader" which is "father" in Danish. The first instance is in the column with Christiane Caroline's name. It says that she was "vacc(inated) (for small pox) in 1807 by her father Esgvadr. _________ __, Schow in Randers".
The other reference to "fader", is in the last column. It translates to "the first bondsman (ie. Henr. Paul Gotle Möller) vouched for the bride's father's consent". In other words, the first bondsman certified that the father consented to the marriage.
Now, thinking that if Christiane Caroline was vaccinated in Randers by her father, I might be able to find a birth record in Randers City somewhere about July or August (determined by her age at the time she was married), and I am fairly certain that I have found it here: https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=167705#167705,28153071. I am fairly certain it is her, because her father in the birth record is "Esguadr. _________ Schou" which matches (close enough) the father's position/occupation in the marriage record. I don't know what that title (esguadr.) is-I haven't ever seen it before. It may be related to "squadron". I will be at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, and will ask one of the Nordic specialists at the Family History Library if they are familiar with the term.
The birth record says Christiane Caroline was born 25 July and baptized at home. The 12 August date is probably the date she was baptized (or the home-baptism was approved) in the church. The mother is wife Anne Schuster.

I think the word/title before Christiane's name is Jfrue, an abbreviation for Jomfrue, meaning "maiden", i.e., a woman who had not been married before. It is obviously not used for all brides but indicates a certain rank.
Her father is Esguard. Chirurg Schow = the surgeon (physician) Schow. Esguadr. is probably a honorary title, cf. Esquire.

Could you look at the birth record in Randers and tell what the word is after Esguadr? It looks to be "fultskær" or "fultskrær"-something like that. The father of the family in Family Search Tree, is Andreas Schow (MV89-5RF), and his marriage record to Anne Marie Olsdatter lists his occupation as a skrædersvend = journeyman tailor. Hello Norm,
my knowledge of Danish is very limited, but I am inclined to speculate that the word is something equivalent to Swedish fältskär or German Feldscher which meant a medic in the military who treated wounds and performed simple surgeries, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feldsher. Maybe this was his first step towards a career as an academically educated surgeon.

I was wondering, like you mentioned Norm, that the father connected to her in FamilySearch tree, is actually incorrect? I am new to researching this particular branch of my family tree, so this was information that was previously added - which means that I am trying to verify that it's even correct! The birthday listed for her on FamilySearch and the birth record that was attached to her was actually for a baby girl with a different name! Researching Andreas Schou and his wife Anne Marie Olsdatter, I haven't come with with a single record that has my Christiane Carolina connected to them. So maybe you just solved part of this mystery for me! Thank you so much!

Upon searching, I just found this confirmation record of a brother! It has the Esquadr. title written out entirely!

Actually, I just noticed that on the line below the father is listed as "Premierlieutenant " - I'm not sure exactly what that is, but I think it's cool!

I'm not seeing where it says Christian Lorentz is a widower. I see that it says he is a lodger and a barrell maker but I don't see the word Enke.

@Norm Baker Again - WOW!!! You absolutely went above and beyond again! Thank you! The census that you found the Schou family in actually wasn’t coming up in FamilySearch until I searched for it specifically, so I’m not sure I would have found that without your help. Upon looking at others listed on the census from that family, I think you solved another question that I had regarding the family that Carl Schou’s daughter married into - the Christian Lorentz Rasmussen family line (his father and grandfather). Yay! I am researching it like crazy right now :)
