Connecting to Living Relatives in Scandinavia
Nobody handed me a family tree so I do not know who from my family remained in Denmark. I have hundreds of DNA matches in Denmark and Sweden and even Norway, Germany and Russia. They are plotted in red on my chromosome map here: https://dnapainter.com/profile/view/a7ea6a8e7e66661a
I cannot conclude much from the names of living persons who match my DNA because of the patronymic naming system.
I belong to the Danish American Ancestry Facebook Group and some kind member shared with me the marriage record for the parents of my James Hansen and 3 brothers who came with James to this county. I entered the parents into my tree as well as the brothers, but I am still pretty uncertain how to connect to living relatives. I still don't know if
I am looking for suggestions on next steps.

@Greg Simkins, could you share a link to your online tree and the marriage record you received for James Hansen's parents? You might be able to find the families in Denmark census records and to follow any siblings of James (and siblings of Sophia's father) through the church records to find out who stayed.
The patronymic naming system in Denmark died out gradually in the 1800s, so once you've gotten another generation or so down, you shouldn't run into that anymore.
