Thanks for taking the time to reply.
i cannot find an easy way except to use the AutoMatch and I would not trust AutoMatch to get it right.

@John K Webb - AutoMatch does a pretty good job. You can always back out of a match so it isn't like this makes the link cut in stone. In fact if your matched person in Tree is deleted in a merge you will have to break the original match and search out the new one anyway.
I currently have 55.057 matched records in my RM data base. Several thousand were done by AutoMatch but most by the one at a time method. Actually it isn't that bad as when you do say a father - while using his screen called Share Data you can match his wife (wives) and all his children. That way you can get a whole family at one time with a few clicks.

@Robert Givens - Thanks for the reply. I have read further that the Auto Match does not transfer any data, so even after the Auto Match you would want to go into each individual to share data and copy ordinance data across, so as you say may as well do it manually.
thanks again.

I just did a test on my RootsMagic. I had 758 unmatched people. I made a copy of everyone who was unmatched then I ran Automatch and it found 26 matches out of the 758. I compared the results to identify the 26 it found matches for. I then review each one and it was 100% accurate. Like the previous person said it does more any data, it just say the two people are the same person.
