Help with missing words in 1703 Transcription and Geography question
This is the sense of what I can read of the 1703 Ellmendingen marriage record of Hans Dietz and Magdalena Rapp
"On Feb 27 was married _____ Hans LInenweaver Andreas Dietz ___ from Zaigen in die? Shrift?Bamberg _____ son with Magdalena Hans Jacob Rapp _____ ______ ______ Linenweweaver ______ ______ daughter "
I can’t find Zaigen in Meyers, and Bamberg is nowhere near Ellmendingen where this marriage took place.
What is a Shrift Bamberg?
What happened to Zaigen as a village?
Any assistance with these questions is greatly appreciated.

As always Ulrich, thank you so much for taking the time to provide transcriptions and answer my questions - particularly relating to geography. I would never have guessed that "stift" was actually "hochstift". I am still amazed that the Bamberg born Hans Dietz married so far from home in Ellmendingen.

My transcription:
Den 27ten Feb; sind allhir copulirt worden Hans ___? Leininweber Andren Dietzen? Bürgers zu Ja__? in dem Stift Bamberg ehel. Sohn und Magdalena, Hanß Jacob Rappen auch Bürgers u. Leininwebers allhir ehl. Tochter.
Stift Bamberg (actually Hochstift Bamberg) was the name of a substate of the Holy Roman Empire until 1802 (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince-Bishopric_of_Bamberg), led by the bishop of Bamberg as a prince-bishop. The territory consisted mainly of the area around Bamberg, but until 1759 also some areas in the eastern alps (Carinthia). The initial letter of the village seems to me like a "J" not a "Z" (compare with Hanß Jacob). However, I couldn't find any location starting with Ja__ in this area.
