I wanted to clarify your intent. In all the browsers with which I am familiar, Ctrl-click is designed to open an additional tab or window, leaving the current one unchanged. Is that what you are trying to achieve?

I teach “blue - right click - open in new tab”... That way I can refer back to the previous person (for instance for additional details to clarify result set), and/or find my way back after going down several rabbit holes only to determine that’s not my guy... 8 to 10 seems to be the limit my brain can handle, but I don’t know if there’s a system limit...
