Solving Two Ancestors
Hi, I had many breakthroughs in June but again I have new dead ends. One is Per Olsson (1779 ??? - 26 March 1823 Ostra Ingelstad, Skane, Sweden) and Signe Nilsdotter (2 March 1778 at Kverrestad, Skane, Sweden - 14 May 1861 at Balkakra, Malmohus, Sweden). I cannot find their marriage record or the names of their parents. I was recommended to this group by a distant cousin who used it to help him solve many dead ends. I will soon know if this is alright. Thanks! J

I think I may have an answer for you about Signe Nilsdotter. Unfortunately, I cannot be sure because the Östra Ingelstad church archive was destroyed by fire in Östra Herrestad's vicarage 1806-06-24.
I believe her birthdate in the household records is incorrect. There is a Sine (Signe) Nilsdotter born in Kverrestad on the 15th of February 1778 and christened on 22 February 1778. Her parents are Nils Jönsson (b. 24 August 1749) and Hanna Boosdotter (or Boasdotter) (b. 3 November 1749). That record is here: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0060843_00012#?c=&m=&s=&cv=11&xywh=2753%2C1934%2C2809%2C1555. I believe that this is your Signe because she is the only Sine (Signe) born to a Nils in Kverrestad in 1778. I will attach an image of the record with her and her parents' names highlighted. The birthdate is highlighted with yellow.
You can follow the family in the Household records:
1779 (#17 on the left hand page): https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0060820_00013#?c=&m=&s=&cv=12&xywh=642%2C1965%2C2478%2C1342. Her name is spelled Sine in this record.
1783-1785 (#17 on the right hand page): https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0060820_00029#?c=&m=&s=&cv=28&xywh=2955%2C2310%2C2998%2C1624. Her name is still spelled Sine in the record. The father, Nils jönsson dies in 1786 according to this record.
1790-1793 (#17 on the right hand page): https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0060820_00080#?c=&m=&s=&cv=79&xywh=3077%2C2812%2C3163%2C1713. The mother, Hanna Boosdatter, has remarried. Her new husband is Nils Andersson. Sine's name is now spelled Signe in this record.
In the next household record, she is no longer with the family-she has moved somewhere. That record is here (#17 on the left hand page): https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0060820_00208#?c=&m=&s=&cv=207&xywh=399%2C2211%2C3477%2C1884. I looked all through the parish and didn't find her, so she must have moved out of the parish. I did not find her in any move-out records so I have no idea where she went.
She may have moved to Östra Ingelstad, which is a neighboring parish and where her children were born. See this record in Östra Herrestad showing children's birth dates and place: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0063292_00091#?c=&m=&s=&cv=90&xywh=624%2C2688%2C3025%2C1950.
I suspect (and this is really just a guess) that she and Per Olsson were married in Östra Ingelstad sometime before 1806 and that the marriage record was destroyed in the fire of 1806.
In all this searching, I did discover Per Olsson's occupation to be "osttryckare" which seems to translate as a "cheese presser"-so I guess he made cheese.
PS. I just found another child that is not in the household records. He was Pehr and was born 6 August 1807 in Östra Ingelstad to "cheese presser" Pehr Olsson and Signe Nilsdotter. The image is in ArkivDigital (Riksarkivet is acting weird at the moment and I can't access the birth record there): ArkivDigital: Östra Ingelstad (L) CI:2 (1806-1859) Image: 6 Page: 1 (https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v104955?image=6). I think that this birth adds weight to the idea that they were married before 1806 in Östra Ingelstad.

Norm,
I really appreciate your review because I came up with only some of that. I find when there are church burnings it is extra hard. Do you think there is hope to solve Per Olsson born 1779? If he was born at same town, there are some Catechism records 1700-1780 on Family Search but I can't access them. Since you have better access, would you consider this and the parents of Nils Jonsson and Hanna Boosdotter? I have found Nils birth record with his parents Jons Mansson & Signe Nilsdotter married on Dec 2, 1744 at Kverrestad. I believe someone did a wrong merge on Jons Mansson from a family far away near Lund and zero records. Hanna's parents might be Boo Nilsson (1714-1789 at Gardlosa) & Sissa Olasdotter (1720 at Komstad-1767 at Gardlosa) married 1739 and with younger and older siblings born at Gardlosa. No records were uploaded to the family tree. I can't find Gardlosa in the catalog. If this is too much, let me know. I always do what I can to assist.

I learned I can only edit my post so much before it disappears and needs approval.

The big problem with Per Olsson is that we don't know when or where he was born. The only mention of his age (that I am aware of) is in the death record in Östra Ingelstad in 1823 where it says he is 44 years old. Ordinarily, you could possibly find him in the household records and get that information. But since there are no household records before 1823 for Östra Ingelstad, that isn't possible.
In the next couple of days, I will try to look at the other items you mentioned and see if there is any more information that I can help with.

Norm,
My last edit might be helpful. If I find more, I will post it.

Norm,
I solved four other dead ends up until there were new dead ends but I had no luck on this.

I believe I have found the marriage record of Nils (Nels) Jönsson and Hanna Boosdotter in Smedstorp, Kristianstad, Sweden. That record is here: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0061939_00145#?c=&m=&s=&cv=144&xywh=741%2C3081%2C2399%2C1328. The banns date is 17 Sundays after Trinity (11 October) 1772 and the marriage date is 8 November 1772 (about 4 lines below the banns date). Both the banns record and the marriage record say that Nels is from Qväresta parish (think Kverrestad) and Norra Qväresta (village or farm) and the marriage record indicates that Hanna Boosdotter is from Garlåse (probably Gårdslösa in Smedstorp parish).
This fits with the Hanna Boosdotter born in Smedstorp on 3 November 1745, so I think her parents are Boo Nilsson and Sissa Olsdotter. See here for the birth record (entry #20): https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0061938_00037#?c=&m=&s=&cv=36&xywh=2889%2C1378%2C2800%2C1550. She is christened on 10 November 1745 and born on 3 November 1745, which is the birthdate given for her in the Kverrestad household records.
I will try to look at Nils' birth record soon to confirm that Jons Mansson & Signe Nilsdotter are his parents.

Norm,
I have attached a copy of what I believe is Jons Nilsson's birth record. I hope it saves you time. I found his own parents marriage record. I am onto their death and birth records. I would feel bad asking you for help on this so I don't but of course you or anyone is welcome to join.

Per MyHeritage, Per Olsson was born to Olaf Persson (1728-1812) and Ingar Jonsdotter (1733-1796). He married Signe Nilsdotter (1778-1861), born to Nils Jonsson (1749-1786) and Hanna Boosdotter (1745-1801).

Hi Jessica,
That would be cool. Did you see any records?

Hello,
I checked MyHeritage for records and there were none so I put them on my tree as maybes. Thank you both for all your help. To anyone: Please consider this discussion closed. I have another open elsewhere. I think I should keep my questions in one discussion from now on. Thank you!
