Burial Date: redundant at large

Typically is an inaccurate/imprecise detail on profiles. Should be removed entirely from burial section and added as an event or fact for those specifically concerned with burial dates.
With regard to profile accuracy measure, this is not important.

Where there is no death date known, the burial date if present does at least provide an upper bound (as for births and christenings), but then so does probate, which I don't think PQS checks (?)

You're right, I've seen that a couple of times. Maybe a better PQS check would be:
If burial date exists and death date does not, then flag death date not populated
