A distant cousin, Urda, has recently contacted me. We are trying to combine our research and need some direction please. All of these family sources are from the indexed film 936,795. The original records are not available on-line.

This is information Urda and I have shared:

Urda shared the ancestral lines of Johann Evangelist, GW39-PC9, and Simon, K8BX-XJN.

I can see the records for Joannes Neyhardt, KCTH-VLB, and Maria Anna Bach, K862-64Q, and some of their children. I see records for their son Simon Neidhart, K8BX-XJN, and Joanna Sterk, KZ63-QWR, and some of their children;

With Simon's son Joannes Evangelista Neidhart, GW39-PC9; I am a bit lost; please help me to understand.

I see Joannes Evangelista Neidhart, GW39-PC9, as a son of Simon Neidhart, K8BX-XJN, and Joanna Sterk, KZ63-QWR, however no wife or marriage record for Joannes.

I also see a Johann Neidhart, KCDG-HYF, as the husband of Maria Agatha Neidhart, K8RB-S79 married 25 February 1800.

For this Johann, I see some of their children however I do not show any parents of Johann. Maria Agatha Neidhart died very young, she was buried 25 February 1814.

In my family line I have a Joannes Neidhard, L1XL-8WR, born 10 November 1781 as the son of Kosmas Neidhart, L2NL-K6H, and Katharina Bolt, K88N-YSR, and he is the husband of Victoria Braun, K88Z-8GP, married 26 July 1814, and they have three daughters. This 1814 marriage was a second marriage for Joannes. Because Victoria was in her early 30's, the 1814 marriage may have been her second marriage also. Urda is thinking this Joannes, L1XL-8WR, is the same person as Joannes Evangelista, GW39-PC9? Urda is a descendant of one of the daughters of Joannes and Victoria.

Because Maria Agatha, K8RB-S79, died in February 1814, and Victoria Braun, K88Z-8GP, married Joannes in July 1814; could Johann Neidhart, KCDG-HYF, and Joannes Neidhard, L1XL-8WR, be the same person?

Most of the birth, baptism, christening, marriage, and death records for this Neidhart family are from Honstetten, Engen, Baden, Germany area; sources indexed on film 936,795. I have searched very much in Familysearch and Ancestry and cannot find any additional information. Please let me know your thoughts on this family?

I think this could be untangled if the original records were available - and when the Family History Centers open.

Thank you for any insights,

Carol E. Kallmeyer

    HI Carol,

    This really needs to be done one step at a time, and, as you already intimated, when the family history center is open again. They will open again at some point. For records between 1810 and 1869 you can use the civil duplicates available online https://www2.landesarchiv-bw.de/ofs21/olf/struktur.php?bestand=10028&sprungId=2240173&letztesLimit=suchen on the state archive website. That may help you sort out some things in the interim.

    I wish I could help more, but at this time it's just not possible.

    If the link above doesn't work, just google "Honstetten Standesbuecher" and click on the result "Staatsarchiv Freiburg Bestand L 10: Standesbuecher..."
