Indianapolis, Indiana question. (Historic Ivy Tech CC topic)
See the photo below of my grandmother (right), LKJQ-2FB, and a link to what I think is the current location where this photo was taken. I believe my grandmother and her unknown friend were sitting on the main entrance to what is currently called the Ivy Tech Community College Illinois Fall Creek Center (formerly the old Saint Vincents Hospital) in Indianapolis. The metal railing they are sitting on seems to be in a state of construction compared to what is there now. The link below is to a type of photo where you can swivel, zoom and move. Zoom to the railing of today and you see it more elaborate than what the ladies are sitting on. Also, the crackly stump of a concrete block at the corner of the railing was turned into a full support brick column at some point.
Additionally, if you swivel the photo around and move down the stairs, you can just see that a steeple like building hidden behind a tree, just like the building peeking up just to the left of the ladies in the old photo. I've included a screen shot of it to the very bottom.
Several questions, What is that building? I've been looking through street maps and simply cannot find it. Second, and main question. I have been attempting to date this photo. I can tell you my grandmother graduated from nursing school in 1922, and I have been hopelessly stymied trying to determine if the uniforms are student nurse or graduated nurse. I believe she arrived in the the Indianapolis area no earlier than 1920, and left 1924, Since I just discovered what I think to be in progress construction of the railing and overall enclosure of the porch area, is there a place I can use that information to date this photo?
Thank you in advance!

Hello @Gail S Watson
Have you tried the Indiana Historical Society? Here is their link: https://indianahistory.org/
I know they have a lot of online collections and search databases. And if all else fails, they might also have a historian/historical librarian who can help.
Good luck and keep us posted!

How can I "un-answer" this question? I got advice on how to continue my own research, so now people who are familiar with Indianapolis skyline won't even look at this question? I really don't like how the FamSearch Community forums have become a ghost town.

Hello @Gail S Watson . I know it's frustrating see less activity but we hope to build it back up! Try reposting the question with a question in the subject - how about: "Can you help me identify this building in Indianapolis?"

@Jennifer Ann Corder You are so kind! Thank you. I will leave this post as is for now. I have been in touch with the Indiana Historical Society about other things I have in my possession, and I think I will be giving them at least one donation at some point! They are quite interesting, and when COVID is over, (really over!) I hope to travel there and take a look at their exhibits.
