Search for John Morris family
I am looking for John Morris' parents and more about him as a person. He died in Parker City, Randolph, Indiana on 24 Oct 1887. I found him in Find a Grave, buried in the Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery in Selma, Delaware, Indiana at 71. I am quite certain that the parents mentioned in Find a Grave are wrong. His own family seems to be correct. He was married on 28 May 1840 in Dearborn, Indiana to Elizabeth Cary (Elizabeth J Cary, the daughter of Hannah Cary, in his Find a Grave entry).
1850 census has him living in Lawrenceburg, Dearborn, Indiana, a farmer at the age of 38. It shows him born in Ohio. Wife Elizabeth 24 born in Kentucky. His children: Adaline - 7 b. Indiana, Loren B - 6 b. Indiana, Benton b. Indiana, Hannah Cary - 70 b. New York.
1870 census has him in Randolph, Randolph, Indiana, a farmer at age 54. It shows him born in Pennsylvania. Wife Elizabeth 42 born in Kentucky. His children: Margaret 14 b. Indiana, Hannah 12 Indiana, Fannie 9 Indiana, Meldie 7 Indiana, Mattie 4 Indiana.
1880 census has him living in Morristown, Randolph, Indiana, a farmer at age 64. It shows him born in Indiana. Wife Elizabeth 56 born in Indiana. Children: Nettie 14 Indiana.
1887 Find a Grave shows his wife Elizabeth J Cary b. 14 Jan 1824, buried in Pleasant Church Cemetery, in Selma Delaware, Indiana. Children: Loring B b.1843 d. 1864, Benton Thomas b 26 Apr 1846 d, 18 Jul 1912 in Fairview, John Clinton b. 1849 in Lawrenceburg d. 9 Feb1928 in Los Angeles, Fannie F b. 16 Jan 1861 in Randolph, Indiana and buried at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
The earliest record of John's birth shows it in Ohio (the 1850 census). The 1870 census shows Pennsylvania. 1880 shows Indiana. the children were all born in Indiana. It looks like their living quarters in Indiana changed only as the boundaries and names of counties changed. I found evidence of their living in Morristown-Farmland (Parker) Indiana in a map of Morristown-Farmland, Parker, Randolph, Indiana published in 1874. While it is not very clear in this rendering, it shows the J Morris home above the train tracks in the far right of the map. Surely there must be more records of this family in Morristown (Parker) archives. It seems that they were in this area for about 50 years.

Thank you very much Jennifer.
I found John Morris in the FamilySearch Catalog, Randolph County, death records,1886-1892. It said "son of ?" It says he died of apoplexy, which is a cerebral hemorrhage or stroke at the age of 73, which is new to me. - pg. 82 of this document.
The link you gave me to Indiana Genealogy seems to go to Boone County records. Is there one to Randolph County?
I wasn't able to find the farmer databases about which you talked.

Hello @Drew
I was so excited to see the Morris entry on page 82. Exciting to "find" someone even if there isn't much info.
For Randolph County, try here:
Here's another one:
Here is a great resource by vocation - give as much info as you can in the search (Randolph County, farmer, etc). Getting a listing in the city directory can give you the ability to pull up maps and probate and other records.
Sorry about the farmer's database...I thought for sure I saw that link. I will keep searching!
Hope those get you a little bit further!
