I am looking at film 007223866, image 63, entry 234 and need help reading what the entry says. I believe it is for the birth of Niels, 19 December 1717, son of Jens Mortensen, and that the female name is not for his mother, but for his maternal grandmother. Is this correct? I can read her name as Karen, but what is the rest of the name or information given in the record? Please translate, including witnesses. Thank you. Judy Wilcox

additionally, what is the easiest way to ask a question in a research community such as Nordic Countries. I constantly have to search for the "Ask a Question" tab.

You are correct it states that Niels born 18 December 1717 and christened 19 December 1717, the son of Jens Mortensen . Karen, mormoderen (maternal grandmother) carried this child to the christening. The name of the mother is not given at this time. You may want to search the marriage entries for this parish to see if you can find the name of the mother. Search to see if you can find the marriage entry for Jens Mortensen and the name of the wife he married.

I'm trying the find out who the parents are of my many times great grandfather Lars Larsson Redlund. He was born in September of 1810 in Skogs-Tibble, Uppsala, Sweden. I know his sister's name is Anna Stina Gerell (Redlund) and she was born in 1814. I also know his wife's name as well. I've been stuck here for a while and don't know what I should do next.

I am trying to read a probate record for Tyra Niclasdotter, who died in Hjarsas, Kristianstad, Sweden about 1824. I pulled up the index (Film #007208503 page 794) and it says her record can be found 1830:144. I think that means the year 1830, page 144. (Film 007201290), however I do not see anything about her on that page. I don't read Swedish very well, but I would recognize her name and the names of her children and husband, but they don't seem to be on that page. Can someone help me find her record, and translate it for me?

Hi Geri,
I found Tyra Nicklasdotter in the Index here: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-8949-RCN?i=219&cat=384554. This gives the record as being 1825:45, meaning it is the 45th probate in the 1825 book. The probate is here: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0111488_00179#?c=&m=&s=&cv=178&xywh=1441%2C196%2C5864%2C3081.
I would recommend that you ask for the translation in the "Discussion" section of the Community rather than the "Announcements".

I have found two baptism records for the same person. I suspect one record is a copy of the other and was copied incorrectly. Looking in the catalog I cannot find any details that would help me identify which church book may be a copy. The two records are:
Film 107615867, Image 41 of 166, Norway, kirkboker, Norway Church Books 1850-1930, 13, 1917-1942
(The entry in question is the last entry: "Aslaug" with a baptism date of April 6th)
and Film 107615882, Image 67 of 210, Norway, kirkboker, Norway Church Books 1850-1930, 13, 1916-1929
(The entry here is the 6th entry "Aslaug" with a baptism date of April 4th")
They both point back to the same series in the catalog, but I can't find any details on the individual Films: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/4131562?availability=Family%20History%20Library
Thanks
