Karl (Carl) Johan Johansson
In November, 2020, I posted questions to the Nordic Community Group regarding the parents of KARL (CARL) JOHAN JOHANSSON, who was reportedly born on 4 March 1831 in Pargas, Finland. He married Elda Gustava Strandblom born 20 September 1830 in Pargas, Finland. One of their children was Johan Alexander Johansson, born 4 September 1866 in Abo, Finland. He immigrated to the United States and settled in Merrill, Lincoln County, Wisconsin. Since my postings in November, I have tried to find the parents of Karl Johan Johansson, but have been overwhelmed with the number of people with this name or names that are very similar. This process has been further complicated by the fact that I do not read Finnish. Could someone please help me determine how I could find the parents of Karl Johan Johansson with some assurance that I have the correct individual? Regards, Daniel Haney

This must be your Carl Johan Johansson (left page, 5th entry): http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?kuvanumero=269&kuid=9162689&amnimeke=Paraisten+seurakunnan+arkisto&sarnimi=Syntyneiden+ja+kastettujen+luettelot&aynimi=Syntyneiden+ja+kastettujen+luettelot+1803-1834&ay=2618120&sartun=314343.KA&atun=324260.KA&ay2=128390 . The birth record has his father as Joh(an) Nordström and his mother is Hedda Moberg. Even though his birth is listed as 5 March 1831, in the household records it is changed to 4 March 1831. See here for that record: http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?kuvanumero=293&kuid=9159597&amnimeke=Paraisten+seurakunnan+arkisto&sarnimi=P%C3%A4%C3%A4-+ja+rippikirjat&aynimi=Rippikirjat+1826-1832&ay=2618088&sartun=314337.KA&atun=324260.KA&ay2=128382.
From the household record, you can see that your Carl Johan (b. 4 March 1831) was the son of Johan Ulric Johansson and his wife Hedda Gustaf(a) Moberg. It turns out that in the next household record, Nordström is a fixed surname for the family so that Johan Ulric Johansson is aka. Johan Ulric Nordström. Johan Ulric's father is Johan Nordström (b. 20 Dec 1777) and should not be confused with the Johan Nordström in the birth record-that is the grandfather of your Carl Johan. See here for the next household record, it may make things a little more clear: http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?kuvanumero=290&kuid=22502878&amnimeke=Paraisten+seurakunnan+arkisto&sarnimi=P%C3%A4%C3%A4-+ja+rippikirjat&aynimi=Rippikirjat+1833-1839&ay=2618089&sartun=314337.KA&atun=324260.KA&ay2=207683
Here is the marriage of Karl Johan Johansson and Edla Gustava Strandblom (left page, July 1st entry): http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?kuvanumero=2&kuid=9169361&amnimeke=Paraisten+seurakunnan+arkisto&sarnimi=Vihittyjen+luettelot&aynimi=Vihittyjen+luettelot+1855-1893&ay=2618129&sartun=314347.KA&atun=324260.KA&ay2=128429.
One final note that you may already be aware of-Pargas is the Swedish name of the parish and Parainen is the Finnish name. So be sure to consider Parainen in your record searches.

You may have this record already. It is the birth of Johannes Alexander Karlsson (Johansson). I could find it only in the "Member Pages" of the Finnish Family History Association. Though you might like to have it if you didn't already.

I actually answered this once but my post has disappeared, so here goes again :)
This is the birth of your Carl Johan Johansson (left page, 3rd from the bottom): http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?kuvanumero=269&kuid=9162689&amnimeke=Paraisten+seurakunnan+arkisto&sarnimi=Syntyneiden+ja+kastettujen+luettelot&aynimi=Syntyneiden+ja+kastettujen+luettelot+1803-1834&ay=2618120&sartun=314343.KA&atun=324260.KA&ay2=128390. The birth record lists his father as Johan Norsdström and mother is Hedda Moberg.
I know the birthdate of 5 March 1831, doesn't match your records but by the time he is entered into the household examination records, his birthdate gets changed to 4 March 1831. You can see that record here: http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?kuvanumero=293&kuid=9159597&amnimeke=Paraisten+seurakunnan+arkisto&sarnimi=P%C3%A4%C3%A4-+ja+rippikirjat&aynimi=Rippikirjat+1826-1832&ay=2618088&sartun=314337.KA&atun=324260.KA&ay2=128382. Carl Johan's father is Johan Ulric (b. 19 March 1807) who is the son of the Johan Nordström (b. 20 December 1777) at the top of the page. Carl Johan has an older sister named Hedda, born 16 October 1828.
In this next household examination record, you can see that Nordström is a family name (as opposed to a patronym). Carl Johan's father is listed as Johan Ulric Nordström: http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?kuvanumero=290&kuid=22502878&amnimeke=Paraisten+seurakunnan+arkisto&sarnimi=P%C3%A4%C3%A4-+ja+rippikirjat&aynimi=Rippikirjat+1833-1839&ay=2618089&sartun=314337.KA&atun=324260.KA&ay2=207683. In this record, Carl Johan now has a younger brother (Vilhelm Reinhold born 24 January 1833 and sister, Aurora (Levia) born 21 March 1835.
This is the marriage record of Karl Johan Johansson and Edla Gustava Strandblom (left page, entry of July 1, 1855): http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?kuvanumero=2&kuid=9169361&amnimeke=Paraisten+seurakunnan+arkisto&sarnimi=Vihittyjen+luettelot&aynimi=Vihittyjen+luettelot+1855-1893&ay=2618129&sartun=314347.KA&atun=324260.KA&ay2=128429.
This marriage record reports that both the groom and bride are from Karlax, a farm/village in Parainen. They are both here, unmarried; he is 10th name down and she is 10 names down from him: http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?kuvanumero=192&kuid=9161190&amnimeke=Paraisten+seurakunnan+arkisto&sarnimi=P%C3%A4%C3%A4-+ja+rippikirjat&aynimi=Rippikirjat+1854-1860&ay=2618092&sartun=314337.KA&atun=324260.KA&ay2=128385.
After they marry, they remain in Karlax together and have (by the end of 1860) a daughter Edla Karolina, born 8 November 1859. That household examination record is here: http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?kuvanumero=191&kuid=9161189&amnimeke=Paraisten+seurakunnan+arkisto&sarnimi=P%C3%A4%C3%A4-+ja+rippikirjat&aynimi=Rippikirjat+1854-1860&ay=2618092&sartun=314337.KA&atun=324260.KA&ay2=128385. They are the 3 names just below the middle of the page.
I hope this helps.
