What Is the Correct Village of Birth?
The translation of the 1902 Marijampole civil marriage record states Varneliškiai is village of Karolina Lehmann‘s birth.
This happened in town of Marijampolė on 25th of August/7th of September, 1902 on 3 P. .M. Appeared along in the presence of witnesses-a farmer from Varneliškiai the George Švelnys, age 32, a farmer from Svetlica –the Mattew Kurt, age 55 and stated that today between 48 years old a widower a worker from Vilkaviškis a professed of the Ew. luth. religion the Ludwig Spurgat, who was born in village of Karaliai to parents lawfully married already deseased- Henrik Spurgat and Eufrosina, nee Duve, a widower after the late the first wife Maria, nee Kaptein, who was died in Vilkaviškis on 17/30th of July of the current year and 30 years old maiden Caroline Lehman - a daughter of deseased Friedrich and his lawful spouse Caroline, nee Butchereit, who was born in village of Varneliškiai - was contracted a religious marriage, which was proceeded by 3 readings of the banns on 11th/24th of August and on two further Sundays in Ew. Luth. churches of Vilkaviškis and Marijampolė. To this marriage no objection was made. The newlyweds testified on this occasion that no premarital agreements was made between them. This document was read to the declarant and to witnesses and was signed by Priest Rev. I. Einlaberg (Sense translation from Russian language. LSHA, A.1467, inv.1, folder 15, page 126, line13, 1902 y.)
I find a village with this name in northeast Lithuania, 222 kilometers from Wilkowischken, far beyond the borders of Suwalki Province, an area where there is little known German settlement.
However, her 1913 death record states that the village of birth is Karklupennai, 25 kilometers south of Wilkowischken, a much more likely location.
On 31 of August, 1913 at 9 a.m. witnesses Liudvik Spurgat, 65 years old, and Gustav Blom, 65 years old, both labourers from Vilkaviškis, announced that yesterday at 6 p.m. in Vilkaviškis KAROLINA SPURGAT nee Leman, 39 years old, born in Karklupėnai, registered in Vilkaviškis district, passed away. Surviving widower husband Liudvik Spurgat and 2 children.
However, the Deutsche aus Litauen [Germans from Lithuania] website reports that Wilkowischken birth records from 1911 to 1918 are “lost/status unknown.“ Confirmation records from 1918 to 1928 are also not listed, the era when Karolina would have been confirmed.
What is the correct location and spelling of Karolina Lehmann‘s birth?

Hello,
in the first document the location is quite obviously spelled as "в Таборшиках", so the name is Таборшики (Taborshiki) and to be honest I've no idea how the original translator came up with Varneliškiai for this. When looking up Таборшики what comes up most is the quote from Brockhaus & Efron encyclopedia pointing to a village in Vilnus region https://lt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabari%C5%A1k%C4%97s but it doesn't quite fit. There are a couple of references in WWI archives about people having been killed near Taborshiki, Marijampole area and when I googled for Tabariškės marijampolė, what came up was "Tabariškių dvaras" which I think is the place you are looking for.
There is a detailed write up on the history of the place including dates and owner names here: https://suduvosgidas.lt/tabariskiu-dvaras/
and some more pictures here
The first story when auto-translated to English gives some interesting details, including German ownership: "From some data it can be assumed that during Prussia, ie from 1795 to 1807, German-speaking colonists were moved here, who also outnumbered the locals. "
"Some owners and housekeepers of the German manor were buried in the Evangelical Lutheran cemetery in Žydroniai village. " as well as an advise to not confuse this with other (more known) Taborshiki "tourists are advised not to confuse the name and history of this manor with other settlements with the Tabariškės name"
The second document gives "в Карклинской" i.e. "in Karklinskaya" as the location, which I think is the reference to the generic area - Karklinskaya gmina (parish) rather than specific village. https://lt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karklini%C5%B3_vals%C4%8Dius
Igor.

Yes, it does. Thank you so much. I understand what you have explained and will think carefully about how to write it up. It is excellent and thorough.
