Records for Italy Surname Santilli
Hello
I am trying again.
Does anyone know if there is anywhere to get Italian Records. Birth Marriage Death records online.
Are there any census records available like other countries.
I am searching for my Aunts husband and his family born I think in Rome as that is where my aunt and Uncle lived and passed away.
I have my Uncles DOB and Date of death from my Aunt before she passed away.
But would love to find out more details of his family. I tried getting in touch with my cousin, but my letter was returned, and found his profile on FB but my message wasnt even delivered.
Thank you

There are two major resources for Italian records online: FamilySearch and Antenati.
Most (85% or more) of Italian records are not digitally indexed so to find records for individuals don't try a name search; instead navigate to the records and browse through the images. They are generally broken out by comune (town), year, and type of record. It's vital that you know the exact comune to search in.
Rome is both a comune as well as a province / metropolitan city containing several separate comuni. If you want to look in Rome the comune, go to the Antenati site and look through the 10-year indexes. They are available for births, marriages, and deaths. If you find a record listed, you would then need to navigate to that type of record and year and find it.
But if you are looking for records of a person born in the past 100 years or who married or died in the past 75 years you will not find that information online as those records are protected by Italian privacy law. They can be released by a comune but only to the immediate family (or direct descendant) of the individual concerned.
