How long does it take to get a response to a request to create a Stake Indexing Group here?
I recently was called as a Stake Temple and Family History Consultant. Twice I have tried to establish an indexing group for our stake. The first time, I thought maybe I did not get a reply because I had not yet been sustained. The second time was about a week ago. Did I do something wrong, or is this wait time typical?

The stake indexing group is automatically created. It is available under FamilySearch, then Indexing, then scroll down to Groups; click on the "Stake Group" and it will take you to that area. There is also a ward group that is automatically created. Members of each ward are automatically placed in there ward and stake groups. If you are a Stake T&FH Consultant, you will probably have access to the admin role for the stake group. There you can run reports, establish sub-groups in addition to the existing ward groups, etc.

That is not the group I am referring to. I am referring to a group such as this one in this community that would allow members to reach out to others when they need help. I see many Stakes have groups here, and presumably there is a way to create one for mine.

@Tracy Polyak Sorry; I mis-understood.

Have you considered opening a FaceBook page for " XXX Stake Temple & Family History"? That has been a method used in other stakes, and one that I'm pursuing in our stake. The Stake President has approval authority, as I understand it. Here is an example: https://www.facebook.com/Des-Moines-Stake-Temple-and-Family-History-767647450049438

I have considered it but we are not currently using FB for the stake at all, and we are only barely using it for the ward I am in. It does not appear to be a great option for a group that does not already have a FB presence. (I would love if that were a good option as I use it a lot.) This forum, however, is linked on the web indexing page, so it is easy for members to get to without having to sign up for a social media account that they may not already have.

@Tracy Polyak If I'm understanding your follow up response correctly, you already did go to the main (Home) page for the "FamilySearch Community" and clicked the right-hand option titled "Groups" below where it says, "Find-Create-Join," correct? And at that bottom left of the resulting page (the "All Groups" page) you clicked the blue "Create a Group" link, and already filled in all of that information, correct? Or did you submit a request some other way and it didn't end up with any response?
If you've already done all of the above, and an answer doesn't appear here in the next day or two, then perhaps messaging this group's administrator might be an option (but make sure it gets answered here as well as in a private response so everyone else benefits from the answer).
I'm presuming you already did all the above and did volunteer to be the group leader (a Group Leader is required before a group can be created), but you've just run into a system glitch. For others who might also be interested, here's an article on creating a group in the FS Community:

@Chris Schmink yes, I did exactly that. When I did it the second time, the form seemed different to me, so it is possible that I did it differently the first time. But in both cases I filled out all information on the form, clicked Create Group, and never received a response.
