Muster rolls and military service records were also kept on a fairly local level, by the Bezirkskommando, which was located in Gleiwitz [Gliwice]. See https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/10645003 This list http://wiki-de.genealogy.net/Garnisonsorte_1914 shows that two regiments were garrisoned in Gleiwitz. There is an affiliate state archive in Gliwice, see https://www.katowice.ap.gov.pl/p,72,gliwice You could try writing there to see if military records have survived .

Thank you Baerbel. I also know that he was a prisoner of war for almost 2 years (in Russia) Would I also find information on where he was imprisoned ?
Kind regards,
Marcie

I meant to add that my Opa was in WW2.
His Father in law had been in WW1
