Are there any South African members on this group?

We do have a couple of people who are from South Africa. They would like to work on the South African place data. Did you want to volunteer to work on a South African project?

I started a small work group to work on standardizing and correcting South African Place names. Members who want to work with me could contact me by email @ willerix@gmail.com or via Facebook messenger. Please supply a short resume wrt your South African genealogy experience. We have Facegroup groups with >30k members. Thank you for supporting me.

Hallo Willie
Recently I volunteered to help out on this site. I am still learning my way around, but it is good that you have started a group.
I have done indexing and arbitration input for FamilySearch for about 8 years and have done input way more than 80,000 records. I am familiar with some place names that have changed from the 1800s to late in the 1900s and find it very interesting to look up all the information. It will be a pleasure to help as much as I can.
My husband and I have immigrated to New Zealand in 2000 and live here ever since. As you know the place names in SA have changed again and I am honest to say I am not familiar with all the new names and places.
Looking to hearing from you soon.
Regards

Dankie Hester ek sal graag van jou hulp gebruik maak. Ek is eers besig om die riglyne vas te maak en met FS uit te klaar voor ek vrywilligers kry. Behoort middel Maart beter tiglyne te gee.

Yes I would like to make contact with them. I am busy collecting people to work in a South African Place Name Standardisation Project. The place name data base for South Africa is in a mess.
