My 3rd GG Jonathan Beckhorn MCDK-DW2 was born in NJ about 1804 according to the 1850 & 1860 US Censu
found to a father in New Jersey is Job Beckhorn or Bacorn LK43-F8T,
Rootsweb url:

shows an unnamed, Bacorn child born and listed before Mary Ann Bacorn. Also, the 1930 US Census for New Jersey for Job Bacorn shows 2 males in his household between the ages of 20 - 30. What other sources could I research to see if these two are related?

Hello,
First the reason you are probably struggling to find a birth, marriage or death record is there was no statewide registration of these events until 1848. Because at least the birth and possibly the marriage occurred before this date there may not be a record. Next even though there was a law requiring these certificates there wasn’t general compliance in New Jersey until 1920. Most of your ancestors events probably occurred before that.
Third it probably isn’t the same man if your Bacon was born in 1804 in the 1930 census because that would make him 126 years old. Most people don’t live that long.
As for locating more information about him I would try church records, newspapers, obituaries and probate records.
Let me know if that helps and if I understood your question correctly.

Another thought is to check the civil war records and registration to find out more about your Jonathan Bacon

Thank you for your reply. I mistyped the census year. It should have been 1830 not 1930 which would have made the unnamed child 26 years old. I will check the additional records you mentioned to see if I can find more. Is there a specific community for New Jersey?
