Shari:
Thank you again for all your help. I did want to ask what your next steps would be or what you would recommend if I did want to search for more details on Marie Jensen. With the limited sources (3) thus far, we know:
- Born in Denmark 1865
- Lived or worked at the Diary cooperative at Sögård (South Farm)
- Gave birth to her daughter (Johanne Marie Jensen) in Nordby, Holbæk, Denmark
- Her daughter (Johanne Marie Jensen) did migrate to the U.S.
I did do a search in FS on Marie Jensen and clearly I don't have sufficient information on her (presently) to know if any of the suggestions may work.
My question really goes to Denmark records and what we know. What would be your next step to try to find Marie Jensen's parents as well as her death date and other relevant info?

Trevor, this is how I would suggest sourcing the confirmation record:
Rigsarkivet, Nordby Sogn, Samsø Kontraministerialbog, 1899 FKVD - 1908 FKVD, image 115, page 156, entry 4, https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?bsid=167002#167002,28041181
"Rigsarkivet" is the Danish National Archives. The record is found in Nordby parish ("sogn") on Samsø (an island). The record states that Johanne Marie Jensen in Nordby, daughter of the unmarried milkmaid Marie Jensen of Nordby dairy farm, and foster daughter of the foster parents Jens Peder Degn and his wife Ane Kathrine born Hjorth in Nordby. Johanne Marie was born at the Nordby dairy farm on 11 August 1889, baptized at home on 28 Aug 1889, and presented in the church on 22 Sep 1889.

The next step to find Marie Jensen's parents is probably locate her in the census records which will list her specific birth place. Marie Jensen is a very common name so you'll need to know more about her to pinpoint which one she is. I prefer using the DDD census indexes because they are more complete than the ones on FamilySearch: https://www.ddd.dda.dk/kiplink_en.htm . However, when I search I'm not finding a Marie Jensen that's the right age anywhere in the census in Nordby or nearby. So I'm feeling rather stuck. Perhaps someone else will find something more.

I also looked at the marriages and deaths in Nordby and didn't find Marie there either. She may have lived in Nordby for a short time and moved elsewhere.

Trevor, you asked about finding Marie Jensen G4NX-17P https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/G4NX-17P and her parents. I must say that we have very few identifiers for this woman so I don't have ideas about how to discover who she is. Her child under 1 year old is given to foster parents as you already know. Maybe @Charlotte Noelle Champenois can provide some possible search ideas.

Trevor, here's one additional important piece of information you know about Marie Jensen: She worked/lived at Andelsmejeriet (the dairy farm) "Søgård" in 1889 and was still working/living at a Nordby dairy farm in 1903. This means that she should be listed in the 1890 and 1901 Denmark censuses as being in Nordby parish.
I browsed through the Nordby pages of the 1890 census without seeing any Marie Jensen--it may be that she went elsewhere to recuperate after the birth. I also searched ddd.dda.dk for her in the 1901 census with no luck. However, the handwritten index/overview at the front of the 1901 census for Nordby states that there were 6 people at Andelsmejeriet (the dairy farm), under the house list number (Husliste) 193 and the house number (Matrikel-Nr.) 19b. You can view another image by clicking on the drop-down box on the right. The pages are not in order, but the front pages of each house are called "Houselists" in the drop-down box; browsing through those, I found 193/19b on image 219, but (on the next page) the only people listed as living at Andelsmejeriet in the 1901 census are the dairy farm family, which does not include Marie Jensen. The 1890 and 1901 census pages for Nordby parish are completely indexed on ddd.dda.dk.
The parish arrival and leaving records end in 1875, so there's no record of Marie Jensen in those, unfortunately.
You could try reaching out to Holbæk Stadsarkiv (Holbæk city archive) to see whether they have "plejeprotokoller" (foster records) for 1889 and, if so, if they have the foster record for Marie Jensen's daughter. It's possible more information is included about Marie in that record. Their email is stadsarkiv@holb.dk and the archivist is Peter Blumensaadt.

Wow, Charlotte, that's incredible work. You really worked hard. I was hoping you could find something coincrete for both my purpose of seeking and so you could feel a bit satisfaction for finding more info on her.
I will reach out to Peter via email shortly. I assume Peter reads/understands English rather well?
Thanks,
Trevor

Thank you for trying, Jeniann!

Thanks, Trevor! I was really hoping something would show up too. I'm crossing my fingers that the archive will have the foster record and that it will give more leads on Marie.
Most Danes are very good at speaking/reading English, so I assume that Peter would be fine with you reaching out to him in English. If he happens to respond in Danish or with a phrase that didn't translate well, feel free to post it on here and I can help out with it (I'm from Denmark, although I live in the States).
