This death entry is very long because Hans Hatzelius was the pastor in the Bergsjö and Hassela chapelry. This isn’t a word for word translation but here are the main points:
Hans Hatzelius pastor here in the chapelry, was born here in Bergsjö 1688 on 3 July. Father was co-minister here in the congregation Mr. Petrus Hatzelius and mother Margeta Gevalia. In the year 1699 he went to school in Hudiksvall. His father died some years later but received a step-father, deceased co-minister Mr. Johan Hertschier. Moved to royal upper secondary school in Gävle in the year 1706 and to academy in Uppsala in 1710. Was accepted into the clergy in the year 1717 on 24 May, and on the deceased pastor Mr. Gulicii Bergqvists vocation, ordained to adjunct here in the congregation in the year 1722 ____? thereafter received authority to co-minister. Lived in marriage with the deceased co-minister of Sollentuna and Eds congregation in Uppland, Mr. Johan Schillings daughter, Mrs. Maria Schilling, later year 1722 on 25 October in 37 years and 3 months during that time with her had 5 children who are all living. Year 1726 when before pastor Bergqvist through death passed, he became pastor unanimous voiced of both the congregation both with the consistorium in Uppsala and with his majesty the king thereof unanimous whereupon his royal majesty provided written approval to the congregations request when even the most reverend _____? through authority of 15 April 1728 he was ordained to pastor which (was) his occupation until death in 31 years and 9 months.
I don’t understand every word for the next 16 rows but they are all about his diligent work and best concern for the congregation, as witnessed by the congregation, to the glory of God and the building up of the congregation throughout his years and as he got older. In recent years became stiff in his arms and legs, 4 weeks before death was bedridden and became senseless and age-related frailty ended his life which happened on 27 January at 5:30 in the evening. He lived 71 ½ years, 3 weeks and 3 days. Was buried on 21 February (I think under the floor in the church which they still did at this time) in front of the door to the sacristi.
