Result with an Image Group Search goes weird

My search for the name Lipsey, Online only, returned 4 results. Great! I tried each one. This result, https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog/723361
has an option at the bottom to look at the individual pages (the old images set, not a book viewer) that has about 1600 images. Not helpful as the name I was seeking wasn't even in the index of the book.
I had seen the magnifying search symbol as well for this result item (link above), for Film2055499 Item 10, DGS 8131583, which I thought would be useful for searching for the person within the images. Thought - great feature for searching within an image set! So I clicked it.
This is the weird part. I received a results list and wasn't asked for a search term at all. I was curious what is this based on? So I clicked the Collection filter at the top of the results list and see that it's over 4000 name results in the California, Great Registers, 1848-1921. How this relates to the original image collection for this book, which was a scanned microfilm of a book, has me stumped.
I would post images, but hopefully the description of my steps are enough for replication or not of my experience.
Hope this helps.

@JanW2 I'm not an expert on the microfilms, but there are sometimes multiple, totally unrelated items on a single film. The website just looks at the DGS number (or maybe the film number, but can't tell the difference for the item) and then decides if it has any records with that value.
So, what I think is happening is the California records, maybe from Item 4, are in that system, so it says it might be searchable with the magnifying glass icon in Catalog. But not all the items are indexed/available in the historical records part of the website. It's definitely not ideal, but hopefully that answers the question of the odd behavior some.0
