Are the URLs for the record pages found only temporary?

Sorry, I'm new to this group, so maybe this has been queried previously.
I know there is no guarantee of sources always remaining available, hence their URLs becoming worthless if viewing permissions are withdrawn. However, I wondered - excepting this factor - if the links will otherwise remain indefinitely. There seems little point in attaching them as sources if the URLs are only temporary, so should I make a point of downloading everything to my hard drive? Okay, this is probably safe practice in general, but it would be still be good to know the likelihood of these links working in the long term.
Incidentally, I've been delighted to find records that I have never previously come across either on FamilySearch or elsewhere, so am very grateful for this excellent feature.

On FamilySearch.org, FamilySearch will attempt to preserve any link with ARK in it. For records in Full Text Search, my personal expectation is that the links will work for the foreseeable future. As you mention, it is far likelier that an image will be withdrawn than that its link will" rot."
The download link makes it easy to save an image to your own storage, with or without its transcription.
