Homepage - Simpler the Better

When I log in to FamilySearch I already have a person or plan in mind. If I'm confronted with a dozen choices—even good choices—they distract from my errand of the moment.

I suggest a page with a very plain, dominant but inspiring main image—maybe a light palette in order not to overwhelm. To the right would be a line-up, top to bottom, of boxes w links to all the choices that are currently spread around the page. In this way, the reader has control and can choose what best suits their purpose at the time, rather than the busy page forcing the reader to look here and there and everywhere.

The links or boxes could have helpful images or icons to help the reader select what they want, but the row of boxes and their uniformity would give order to the page instead of a feeling of scattered, sometimes confusing choices.

Thanks for the f3eedback @donnapackstanleymcevoy - appreciate the suggestions. The page has been simplified from what it was a few months ago but I understand your request for an even more simplified format. While there are no plans right now to do that, future changes may include some simplification. This New format makes it easier for people all over the world to use FamilySearch, even on their cell-phones.

@donnapackstanleymcevoy , since you already have a person or plan in mind when you come to FamilySearch, you may want to train yourself to just ignore the home page and focus on your goal. I'll admit that 99% of the time when I sign in to FamilySearch, unless I'm exploring, all I do on the home page is look at and use the top menu bar:

If you already know where you are going, that is all you need.

@donnapackstanleymcevoy I have another suggestion for you.

1. Create a bookmark in your browser to the starting location you normally go to such as your Family Tree or to a person in the tree.
2. Use that bookmark whenever you want to go into FamilySearch. This will take you to the login page.
3. After you login, you will be redirected to the location you want to start from bypassing the Logged In page completely.

I would suggest that occasionally do a normal login to see what is new on the Logged In page.
