Does anyone have information about Gabriel Vallés Català?
Gabriel Vallés Català was my great-great-grandmother's brother, he was Spanish and disappeared in the early 1900s, he said he was going to America but his name doesn't appear in any passenger records, we believe he could have gone to Algeria since at that time many people from his town emigrated to Algeria, does anyone from Algeria or another country have an ancestor with that name?

Hello there! I'm not from Algeria, but have you tried these things yet?
- Search in the FamilySearch genealogies database to see if that surname has been added to any other trees
- Geneanet has a lot of Algerian records (including family trees), it is a free genealogy company based in France
- FamilySearch Wiki has a page for Algeria research that may prove useful
Hope that helps!

@Macarrones con tomate , I've been thinking about your question and wanted to give you a few more ideas:
- Have you tried looking for the name, "Gabriel Valles" in US passenger lists? Keep in mind that it was quite common during immigration for the spelling of a name to be changed or dropping a name altogether, either by the immigrant or the immigration officer.
- For more Algeria resources…The Archives Nationales d'Outre-Mer (ANOM) or French overseas archives (the website is in French but can be translated via your web browser) has a database of vital records for Algeria from 1830-1962. As with all French overseas records, the focus is mostly on European settlers but may also contain some immigrants and native Algerians. You can search the database here, and I noticed that they have many records for the surname, "Valles."
- Another source you could look into are the French censuses from that period. Here is a description of the censuses which are held at ANOM. They can be contacted with research questions at anom.aix@culture.gouv.fr.
- Another route would be to look for emigration passenger lists departing from Spain. Here is the Spain emigration and immigration Wiki page with more information.
Best of luck in your searching!
