Request translation of following Sankt Michaels Death record for Melchior Horlacher. Here is what I was able to glean from the record: died in 1637, age 60. Believe he was born in Sulzdorf. Married 37 years with 7 children…6 sons and 1 daughter. Very curious about two underlined entries. Plan to update FamilySearch genealogies as appropriate with translation. Thank you.

Melchior Horlacher, Hirt im Spital, ist gebohren zu Sultzdorf vor ungefähr 60 Jahren. Lebet im ledigen Stand 23, im Ehestand 37 Jahr, erzeuget 7 Kinder, 6 Sohn und 1 Tochter, leben noch 2 Sohn und Ein Tochter: Ist mit dem Rindervieh zu Michelfeld, Sultzdorf, Dullau?, Hirschfeld etlich Jahr, und letzlich im Spital in die 2 Jahr außgefahren.; Er hat sich in die 2 tag übel befunden, und ein Seitenstechen geklagt, doch dabei umbgegangen und seines Berufs gewartet, und als er am Montag nachts im Spital gewachet, und zwei Uhr angeschrien, hat sich sein Zustand so heftig gemehret, und einsmals gehäuftet, daß er umb 3 Uhr schon ein Leich gewesen. Gott sei seiner Seele gnädig. Amen.

Melchior Horlacher, shepherd in Spital, was born in Sulzdorf about 60 years ago. He lived 23 years as a single man, 37 years as a married man, fathered 7 children, 6 sons and 1 daughter, 2 sons and 1 daughter are still alive. He was with the cattle in Michelfeld, Sulzdorf, Tullau?, Hirschfeld(en) for several years, and finally went to Spital for 2 years. He was ill for 2 days and complained of a stitch in his side, but he went around and waited for his job, and when he woke in Spital on Monday night and cried(?) at 2 o'clock, his condition deteriorated so violently that he was already dead at 3 o'clock. May God have mercy on his soul. Amen.

The word "Spital" means hospital, but I think it is place name here, which I can't find in Meyers, however.

You are welcome, Don. Don't worry about the time for translation. That's usually the easier part - and I also sometimes use AI-based translation tools to get a first draft (DeepL is much better than Google I think), but the language in the older texts often need a fine-tuning.

The bigger challenge is often reading (i.e. transcribing) the record correctly, although in this case the handwriting was very legible.

If you think it will save you time, I can use Google to actually translate the document once you put the church record in printable form. For example, I ask Google to translation your typed German script above. The only significant difference was interpretation of the term "Spital." I can typically get what I am looking for from the Google translations, i.e., names, locations, dates, etc. Let me know if this will work for you going forward. Thanks again…Don
