having the Ordinance Ready button at the top
- Adds to the false belief held by many temple patrons that it is more important to have a "family name card" for temple proxy work, than to complete ordinances for "temple names" (which are Also "family names"). As an ordinance worker for several years, I have watched the progression of patrons feeling that it is somewhat of a status symbol to bring "family names", instead of perform work for those who have been waiting for a long time. Even ordinance workers support this unfortunate attitude while assisting patrons, especially when labels like those above are used. Promoting the "ordinance ready" application helps promote this attitude churchwide.
2. is somewhat deceptive in that it leads members to believe that whatever the program spits out as an ordinance that is "ready" is valid, i.e. not a duplicate, or a name without sources. This is not true. Simply clicking on the name received from "Ordinance Ready", may show a variety of easily resolvable problems that should be taken care of Before doing proxy work (i.e., fixing maiden names for women, finding spouses and other simple tasks)
3. eliminates the need for members to learn how to do any valuable research on their tree, i.e., contact ward FHC or search out ways to validate sources for family members. When members have no idea how to do anything except click on "ordinance ready", it continues to promote the idea that they have no further responsibility for their ancestorial line other than to "click ordinance ready".
4. As a ward FHC, I have seen members eyes grow wide, and mouths drop, when they've been shown the simple methods to check out names received from "ordinance ready", before doing proxy work for that name, and i recommend something be done to promote that option, instead of pretending like the AI used for Ordinance Ready is foolproof.

@Julie B Pierce - Thanks for the feedback. Good family history and genealogical practices and standards need to be taught and adhered to and teaching them one-by-one as you are doing is certainly helpful and effective!
