1st November was baptized the son of noble István Soós, Dániel, godfather noble Miklós Kriston, godmother noble Mrs. Gergely Ts??.
This is the era and denomination of church register where the marriage record of one of my ancestors neglected to mention the name of the bride. To be fair, though, mentioning the godmother but not the mother is actually fairly standard — I've seen it in English parish registers, too.

Zsuzsanna Sos’ illegitimate daughter’s baptismal record mention Daniel Sos as a godfather. So I wonder if that is her brother? I think he is too young to be her father. In the case of illegitimacy, would only family members be godparents? But at least I know his father was Istvan so maybe looking up that will lead me to her birth date? A long shot

I've seen the pastor acting as godparent to illegitimate babies, so no, it wasn't just family.
I think in official thinking, they realized that it made no sense whatsoever to shame and disadvantage children for something they had zero choice about or control over (namely the marital status of their parents at the time of their births), so the rules or guidelines concentrated on getting babies baptized and giving them that extra quasi-parental relationship of the godparent.
