Kilchberg ZH - baptism - 1863/64 - Sidler - Jakob (spur.)
Kilchberg ZH - birth - 1863 - Jakob Sidler - Barbara Sidler
According to Jakob Sidler b 1812 and Anna Sidler's Familienregister: Their second daughter Barbara, born 17 June 1842, had an illegitimate child named Jakob born 12 December 1863. He died 24 March 1865. I searched Ottenbach for this birth without success. However I did find a document that appears to be young Jakob in Kilchberg. I marked the Familenregister and the birth record with the relevant sections. Feel free to correct my clumsy notes.
I look forward to see what you think.

We know from the Familienregister that Barbara had an illegitimate (spurius) son Jakob:
Jakob, Spur(ius) v(on) Barbara, n(atus) 14 XII 1863, b(aptizatus) 30 III 1863, ob(iit) 25 III 1865.
Dates of birth and baptism agree, the mother is not local but from Ottenbach - so this is definitely the same person. Jakob will have been baptised in Kilchberg - he may have been born there as well, but this is not for sure. The long time passed between birth and baptism will likely be connected with the complicated situation of an illegitimate child.
Your assumptions re witnesses seem plausible.
Note the meaning of "spurius".
BTW - I have copied the Familienregister data to Geneal-Forum.

A minor point but I think Jakob was baptized in 1864. You can't be baptized before you are born. Thanks, these are always interesting to me. Thanks for all you do!!! 😎

For the titles I use the (translated) terms used for the church records in Switzerland: Taufrodel / Eherodel / Totenrodel - resulting in baptism / marriage / death. This entry is from the Taufrodel (consequently baptism) with relevant dates in 1863 and 1864 - which is why both years show up in the title - not to imply that a baptism had taken place before birth.
Baptism before birth is rather uncommon - but did happen in catholic regions: if the risk of a child being stillborn (and that could not be baptised) was considered too high, the midwife would use some sort of syringe to baptize the child in the uterus.
