So so slow
I love the new source linker because we can correct or add information to a person when attaching a source … but … compared to the old one, it is so so slow to respond to anything. Attaching records, viewing the record, changing to a different focus person, etc.
I thought it was my laptop, so I changed to my desktop … still slow.
I switched back to the old source linker and it was very quick.

As I mentioned in another post about the speed of the new source linker, over the past years of Family Tree, it seems to be a common complaint with updated features that they are slow. This has generally been during the transitional stage when both versions of the feature have still been in use. I've wondered if it is because the two versions are tangled up with each other. In any event, it also seems that generally within a month or two of the old version being completely turned off, the speed of the new version gets to be the same or much better than the old one. Whether this is because the programmers no longer have to maintain both versions or is because once the old one is fully stripped out of the new one the code for the new one can be fully optimized, I have no idea.
In any event, I suspect that by July, assuming the old source linker does indeed get fully turned off May 31, the speed of the new one will be just fine.

One thing you may want to do, since you are seeing a significant speed difference, @srfs , is to post the exact configuration of your system. There may be some things that can be tweaked specifically for it. For example, you gave changing the focus person as an example for where the speed of the new source linker is much slower. I hadn't noticed any problem there so I tested that out, set up a split screen for the two screen recording of my tests, aligned the click to change the person as closely as I could and got this:

That really is not a significant speed difference. This is on an iMac, Apple M1, Retina Display 24-inch (4480 × 2520), MacOS Sonoma 14.4, Safari 17.4. Current download speed 367 Mbps. Current upload speed 11 Mbps.
If you are seeing a much different result, then it is either your system and your internet connection. If the programmers know what you are working with, they may be able to improve things for you and others with the same configuration.

The updates have been applied and you should see significant improvements in the speed of attaching sources.
Please add a new question if you have speed issues.1
