Two cents ...
Hello,
As someone who performs thousands of source links a month, please, please, PLEASE don't get rid of the old source linker.
The new source linker, even though it has nice bells and whistles, is not nearly as tight and easy to read as the old linker. I DO appreciate your efforts, honestly.
But the ONE AND ONLY THING that I cannot ignore, is that the new source linker is DREADFULLY slow. One clicks … and waits. Then clicks … and waits.
You may have your new linker, and that is all very well. But please don't force me to use your new linker at the end of the month. Fix it first. Ask the people who make thousands of links every single month, like me. You will make my efforts so much harder. I have tried using the new linker so many times and given up in utter frustration. It's TOO SLOW! Can't you see that? Surely you can see that.
Please, go back and check. It takes twice the time on the new linker, if not more.
In utter exasperation,
Brett

One thing I have noticed over the past years as new features and new updates to FamilyTree have been released that being slow is nearly alway a complaint during the transition period. It has always been the case that after an update is fully released the performance has very quickly improved. I would expect the same to happen with the new source linker and really hope that will be the case for what you are seeing.
I wonder if the speed problem could be due to the site needing to run both the old and new source linker or if the program has to keep checking repeatedly which source linker we are using. Whatever is going on, I suspect that the speed issue you are seeing is because of the failing old source linker and the solution is to get rid of it as soon as possible.
