Transcription help: Birth record for Johann Friederich Gebauer

Eureka! Sometimes it pays to go back for a second look.

I found the birth/baptism record for my third-great-grandfather Johann Friederich Gebauer (sometimes Gehbauer), born in Rhode Island while his parents were there with Ansbach-Bayreuth military, fighting for the British in the American Revolution. I thought the records for this timeframe were missing. But I have noticed that in some of these church books they are in sections. You think you've come to the end of the available records for a timeframe, but there is another section added towards the back. And that's where this was! This was in the Ansbach Militärgemeinde parish book.

My transcription attempt:

(Page 158) A[nn]o 1779 am 8. März wurde zu New Port auf Rode Island ehel.[lich] geboren, und ead.[em] von Gl.? __? ___? getauft. 1. Johann Friederich, den Vater ist Georg Sixtus Gebauer, Gefreiter (military title? Other times he has been called Grenadier, but this looks different) under Gl.[General?} Majors von Ellrodt löbl.? Compagnie, dir Mutters seit? Anna Sibylla, geb.[oren] Sülzer(in). Tauf…? (baptism sponsor) Johann Friederich Hauf?, ehemal.?Sergeant unter diesen Companie.

My translation:

Year 1779 on 8 March was legitimately born in Newport, Rhode Island, and baptised the same day by …… (name of military pastor?) 1. Johann Friederich, whose father is Georg Sixtus Gebauer, “freeman”? under General (?) Major von Ellrodt löbl.? Company; whose mother is Anna Sibylla, born Sülzer. Baptism sponsor: Johann Friederich Haas, …? Sergeant under this Company.

What a great find! Here are my additions in bold to your transcription -

(Page 158) A[nn]o 1779 am 8. März wurde zu New Port auf Rode Island ehel.[ich] geboren, und eod.[em] von H. Feldpred[iger] Wagner getauft: 1. Johann Friederich, der Vater ist Georg Sixtus Gebauer, Gefreiter unter H. Majors von Ellrodt löbl. Compagnie, die Mutters seist Anna Sibylla, geb.[oren] Sülzer(in). Tauf Path: Johann Friederich Hauf?, ehemal.[iger] Sergeant unter dieser Compagnie.

And the resulting translation -

Year 1779 on 8 March was legitimately born in Newport, Rhode Island, and baptized the same day by the military chaplain: 1. Johann Friederich, whose father is Georg Sixtus Gebauer, private under Major von Ellrodt worthy Company; whose mother is Anna Sibylla, born Sülzer. Baptism sponsor: Johann Friederich Haas, former Sergeant under this Company.
