Translation Help? French to English
If someone is able to make out the hand-writing, and reads French, I would greatly appreciate a translation of the entry for Joseph Bertrand.
I am hoping to learn the:
date of birth & place birth (if there);
the christening date;
parents' names,
witnesses or other family mentioned.
Thank You!

It is a birth of Joseph Bertrand, who the record says was born 26 sep 1899 (was baptized the same day); illegitimate, born of unknown parents (which makes me question the date of actual birth). Godparents are Joseph Daunais and Madame Gustave Jarry (who signed the record). The Godparents are from different parishes, I am not sure of the circumstances. Baptism took place in the parish of Immaculee Conception in Montreal. It is somewhat unusual to have a child with a surname who is illegitimate, usually it is a first name and parents unknown.

Joseph Bertrand could be two given names rather than a given name and a surname.

It looks like he passed shortly after. Here is a burial entry for 3 children with unknown parents, recorded at Notre Dame de Montreal, 13 october 1899:
Joseph Bertrand died at age 14 days. They were at the Hospital General de Soeurs Grises (Grey Nuns) in Montreal. Grey Nuns Hospital is a charitable hospital for elderly, infirm, handicapped, orphans, and women who were pregnant out of wedlock.

Good thought about Joseph Bertrand being two given names. You are right. (I was diverted because I have good friends with that as a surname, but you are right of course.) Being at a charity home/hospital would also explain the godparents.
