Who is Georg Otto in this birth record? Looking for a birth father for an illegitimate birth.
I have a birth record of an illegitimate girl named Anna, #10 on the record attached. It indicates her mother is Anna Gede, but in the block for parents names it also includes the name Georg Otto. I don't know what the words are in-between the names - whether they are naming this man as the father or if he has another role.
The child, Anna, grows up and in her marriage record and in the records of her children's births and on her death record it is indicated she is Anna geb. Papke. (I believe her mother, Anna Gede, marries a man named Jakob Papke three years after her birth.) Her death record indicates the exact date of birth in the town/parish where this Anna is born (agrees to the record attached). Would they use "geboren Papke" for future records if she was adopted at a young age by the husband of her mother? Or would this be a clarification of the last name of her birth father? I know we can't know for certain, but if someone has experience in this area, I'd appreciate an opinion.
Thanks very much!
Susanne

I read:
Anna Gede famulans apud George Otto in Czarnowo ___?
"famulans apud" is Latin and means "serving at", so he seems to be her principal.
As for the name of an illegitimate child, it is usually the mother's (maiden) name first. If the mother later marries and takes her spouse's name, the child often changes to that name as well. It is not always clear whether the child is recognized by the man as his or is legally adopted. Formal legal procedures were not that common in the rural areas in that time.

Thank you very much! I appreciate the clarification. So the Otto fellow is someone Anna Gede works for. Officially we don't know who the father is. I'm going to assume the Papke reference is a step father.
Some things we will never know for sure!
Best regards,
Susanne
