Need help with an ancestor
I'm having difficulty tracing an ancestor and I've tried looking at the archives and going back to their children to see if I could background information and I end up with a dead end. His name is Josef Talafous. All I know he was born in Myšenec and he married Katerina Kopet around 1850 also in Myšenec. She was born around 1829 in Mischenetz. Josef's ID is GXL2-WTK and Katerina's ID is KZ44-SJP. Katerina's maiden name is either Kopet or Kopta. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

What is now Myšenec, Protivín, Czechia, used to be Mischenetz, Pisek, Böhmen, Austria. These town references all refer to the same location.
The FamilySearch Catalog shows that we have church records available for that location from 1784 to 1927. See: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/2424915?availability=Family%20History%20Library. The catalog entry does not specify which religion these belong to, but it does specify that the collection is housed at the Třeboň State Regional Archives in Czechia. Information on how to access and use the digital collection from this repository are available at: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/T%C5%99ebo%C5%88_Regional_Archives,_Czechia.
These records will be written in either Latin, German, or Czech depending on what the laws dictated at the time of each record you seek. There are a variety of reference materials available for these languages in the FamilySearch Research Wiki. Please ask more questions if this does not help you move forward.

@Suzi Trotter
Thank You! I will check out the links that you've sent. I've been to the Trebon Archives once before and didn't get any leads,but it's good to know what Myšenec used to be called. I've also checked out GenTeam also.
