FamilySearch’s campaign team has created a new resource and tool especially helpful to temple and family history consultants. We could use your help in Beta testing this feature. Based on your home unit’s membership records, FamilySearch searches for available record hints or temple opportunities. If you are a Temple & Family History Consultant, by going to www.familysearch.org/campaign/patrons you can see a list of people in your home unit with a URL link to their record hints and/or temple opportunities. Special Note: the link provided can only be seen by the person. How is this useful for Consultants? It provides the names of people to reach out to in your unit and a discovery opportunity you can open together. Also, if you notice there are people who are not on the list with hints, this might indicate people who haven't established a tree or need to enter in their first four-generations.

As I am, both, a Ward; and, a Stake, "Temple and Family History Consultant", is that WHY I can see ALL the Wards and Branches within my Stake?

OR, in other words, do Ward/Branch, "Temple and Family History Consultant" only see those in their respective Ward/Branch; and, do Stake/District, "Temple and Family History Consultant" get to see all in their Stake/District?

And, as to the "Link" ONLY being SEEN by (accessible to) the Member; and, NOT, the Consultant, if the individuals/persons relative to those "Links" are ALL "Deceased", WHY, do you NOT allow the Consultant to see the details?

In my simple mind, to be able to see the whole would be more effective in HELPING the particular Members. Being fore armed and fore warned (ie. doing hour homework/groundwork before hand) and having some direct knowledge of the Members situation would be far more effective! But, perhaps, that is just me.

Are the "List" of Names of the Members, the "Display Name" of the Members, as recorded in the Members "Settings" in "FamilySearch" (and, by extension, "LDS.org)?

Add an Option to "Print" the "List" of Names; and/or, include the ability to Print/Save to a "Spreadsheet" File (ie. CSV File).

I am a Ward Temple & Family History Consultant and I can see all Units in my Stake. I am not sure if that was intentional as I would not have responsibility for members outside my Ward.
If you look at the Links, they are the same for every person. It is the person's FamilySearch login that opens "their" Record Hints and Temple Opportunities.
As far as seeing all the details of members' trees, even if these hints and Temple opportunities are for deceased persons, the member still has to ask for or be invited to grant access to their tree to the Consultant/Helper. This tool does not circumvent that process.
I have not yet decided how or if I will use this tool. Consultants should follow the Spirit in the use of this tool.

'Yes', I consider that Ward/Branch Consultants being able to see the WHOLE Stake/District to be a possible OVERSIGHT (ie. Possibly should not happen - fault/flaw that needs addressing).

But, when such Ward/Branch Consultants are staffing their local "Family History Centre"; perhaps, they DO need access to all those in the Stake/District, rather than being limited to their respective Ward/Branch.

I do consider that Stake/District Consultants should be able to see the WHOLE Stake/District!

But, some of those on the (my) List are ALREADY in my "Consultant Planner"; and, I cannot see the DIRECT "Link" for those Members; and, I think that I should be able to do so.

quick question, I know I get emails all the time from Family Search indicating there is a name for me to take to the Temple, or that there is a record hint. Wouldn’t this process double up on the same thing?
Our Temple is getting ready to Open back up in November, I do believe This is a great way to motivate members.

This is an interesting approach. Perhaps this could be incorporated into the invite itself from the consultant planner so that the member could see that there are things that can be done in their tree. I don't know if sending this out before or after an invite would be as effective

Regarding the beta project described above and accessed by going to "www.familysearch.org/campaign/patrons":
- I see that virtually everyone in my ward has a (2) by his or her name, meaning that they have both record hints that could be added and temple ordinance reservation opportunities.
- Where do the temple reservation opportunities come from? It seems likely that this program is just providing a shortcut to the the person's "Ordinances Ready" feature.
- What is supposed to happen when I click on a ward member's name? The program says "Download" but I don't know where the info is being downloaded to.
- From the description in the announcement, I presume that the purpose of this beta program is just to serve as a door opener for FH consultants to visit one-on-one with ward members to introduce them to FamilySearch and by a process of elimination see who might not have a FamilySearch account?

I sent a message with a link to a temple opportunity to a lady in my ward. This is quite an interesting concept. I'm anxious to see what comes of it. I'll do the same again tomorrow with a lady in my ward who is also in my missionary group.

I am interested in this question as well. In the area where I live, there is a great deal of variety between names that members use/go by/put on records and I'm having a little bit of trouble being sure which "Elizabeth Garcia" I am sending a message to.

Those who have My Ancestors Notifications turned on in FamilySearch will know about these Record Hints and Temple Opportunities. Many may not have Notifications turned on and may only see these when they log into FamilySearch. If we could just get members to login to FamilySearch more often, they would see these hints and Temple Opportunities.

If you look at the links, they are all the same for every person. I believe you could send the link to any member who has FamilySearch account. If they have Record Hints or Temple Opportunities, they will see them. The links appear to be shortcuts to Research Helps and Ordinance Ready for the individual that logs into FamilySearch.

It would be nice if we could see more. I know that sometimes the campaigns show incorrect information, or the record has already been attached. Temple opportunities turn out to be duplicates that need merging or back in the 1700s.....I wish I could vet them and make sure that it was a good suggestion. But it is a start. Thanks.
It is also an alert for people who haven't moved their records. I see someone who left our ward several years ago.

I must be using this wrong. I see a couple hundred people in my ward in the list. Each has (2) and when I expand there are two items - one for records and one for temple. When I copy any of those links it just show my own, not the ones for the person in the list. Shouldn't it show that person's record hits and temple?

It is based on the FamilySearch account of the person using the link. Did you mean to say when you use the link? (not copy)

Tried this new way to excite my ward members. I clicked on a members name, clicked on copy, and successfully copied, and clicked on What's next. Apparently I am to post whatever I copied . Where did what I copied go?? Can't send it if I can't find it. I am stumped! Please advise. Once I figure this out I think it has good potential!!

I think if you paste it into an email to a ward member it would serve as a link to record hints or temple hints in their tree.

I really like this idea. It's a way to open the door to communicate with those in our ward. How often is it updated? It looks like its been a while because all the wards boundaries in our stake have changed, and there are many on the list that are not in our ward now. Ia there a way to find this from FS without coming to this link?

These Record Notes & Temple Opportunities come from the list on the Consultant Planner, don't they? I have found some good connections from looking at these lists when preparing one-on-one experiences, but there are also some that need vetting first. One I just got for my own tree had a duplicate & had children before the parents were born. I wonder how many ward members would click on it from an email.

If you have someone in the Consultant Planner, these same record hints and Temple Opportunities will show up there. Having someone accept and added in the Consultant Planner is the best situation for helping them with discovery experiences. If you can see their hints and Temple Opportunities, you can help them resolve duplicates and data problems. This tool needs to be used carefully. The same with Ordinance Ready. As others have suggested, this can serve as a door opener for further communications and an opportunity to add the member to your Consultant Planner list.

- Correct. One link is for Record Hints and the other is for Temple Opportunities. Record Hints gives them a list of hint that they can review and attach if they find them to be a match. Temple Opportunities will give them one name they can view and/or reserve.
- They may have more than one Temple Opportunity and the page will direct them to Ordinance Ready for more opportunities. If the Temple Opportunity that is first opened is reserved, it will not be shown again. The next time the link is opened, it will present a new Temple Opportunity if the person has multiple opportunities. I believe that the Temple Opportunity link is intended to introduce them to one of the names in Ordinance Ready and get them to use Ordinance Ready to review and reserve any other opportunities.
- When you click on a Ward member's name, it opens up the Record Hints and Temple Opportunities links. Clicking on the "Copy" button, copies the link to your computer's clipboard memory. You can then "Paste" that link into an email or text message to send to the member.
- Yes, that is my understanding of this tool/resource. Used appropriately, it can open the door for you as a Consultant to be able to add the member to your Consultant Planner list and help them with discovery experiences.

- Do you have any idea if it will be a regular tool for consultants to use, and
- What is the procedure for consultants to provide feedback on their experiences in using it?

I'm talking about this image. The copy just copies the url that is next to it. When I go to that URL for that ward member I see my hints and temple, the same for every ward member. I thought I would be able to see their hints and records. If not why do I have this list and URLs for each ward member?

We also had a major reorganization of the wards in our stake, and this beta project is pulling the information from the old wards (all the names were changed, including our stake name, and this list has all the old names. Will it be updated?

It is a generic URL. It becomes specific only due to the fact someone was signed into familysearch.org with their account.

Oh, I thought this was for TFHC to see specific things for each of their ward members to help them. If it's always showing my stuff (not the member's) then I guess I don't understand how this helps me know how to help them. How should I use this list, or is it just the ward list?

I agree this is of limited usefulness. I believe they are suggesting that we use this as another way to send a hint to a ward member. They are suggesting that we get permission to see into a person's tree using the Consultant Resources. Unfortunately since the list is old, we see people who are no longer in our ward. I have had limited success following these kind of hints and temple opportunities in my own tree. AsI said earlier they are often for someone so far back that it is hard to verify their relationship to me or any of the data. Sometimes the hints are already attached by another relative.
I have a suggestion. I understand privacy, but I can see any nonliving person in the tree. I don't need special permission for that. To me this would be much more helpful, if I could follow any link to a nonliving person. I assume the concern with privacy is because I could make the assumption that person X in my ward is related to person Z in the tree. I suppose in a few instances that could be a problem. But so much of the good in Family Tree is that it is open edit. Would it be possible to only send these to the consultant if the hints were for people born 70 years ago or even 110 years ago. Seems like that would eliminate the privacy concerns and allow us to do much more to help ward members. I could look at the hint, verify that it seems to be legitimate and contact the ward member about it.

I wouldn't want to send them an invite link because I don't know if that member has a hint or opportunity to start with.
