Explanation of term in 1930 federal census
Albert Hibbs is listed at Pontiac County Jail in Pontiac City, Oakland Michigan USA in the 1930 federal census (Precinct 11, ED 3-71, sheet 26B). Under the heading occupation it says "Block Plant". What does this mean? Over 20 other men are listed in this way. Was he an inmate jailed here and confined to a particular part of the jail or was he just employed at the jail?

A quick Google indicates it may be a concrete block manufacturing plant - which would have been appropriate technologically for the 1930s.
