An artist or painter of houses / buildings?
A question about the meaning of a word …
In this record Maria allegedly later married with the “painter Rose” (“Malar Rose”). Does the word “Malar” in this context mean he was an artist or he painted houses/ buildings and so on?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Hello Ian,
Here is the definition of "Maler" from Ernest Thode's German-English Genealogical Dictionary: (male) painter; artist.
Unfortunately the context of the record does not offer any guidance. The word "Maler" simply translates as "painter" and could mean either an artist who paints or a worker who paints. It appears from the snippet you provided that little is known about Mr. Rose, including his first name and his whereabouts.
